Talent Youth Association (TaYA) in partnership with Amref Health Africa implements Kefeta in Addis Abeba and Debrebirhan city. Kefeta envisions Ethiopian youths who are game changers: empowered to advance their own economic, civic, and social development; resilient in the face of shocks; actively promoting development within their communities and contributing to the country’s peace and prosperity.

Kefeta will strengthen the youth ecosystem in Ethiopia with integrated, multi-sectoral, youth-centered programming aligned with the Positive Youth Development (PYD) approach.

Required: 2 (1 at Addis Ababa, 1 at Debrebrhan)

Supervisor: Youth Economic Empowerment Officer

Contract duration: 1 Year with possibility of extension

Location: Addis Ababa and Debrebrhan Ethiopia

Starting Date: Immediately

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Youth Economic empowerment officer and project manager
    Assist in field level needs assessments: youth led community project identification, and business proposal development activities.
    Participate in preparation of detail implementation plan in collaboration with other project team particularly on youth economic empowerment activities
    Work closely with youth entrepreneurs to identify and analyze the selected livelihood options
    Assist in supporting skilled youths to enter the workforce through internships and/or employment and/or business mentorship activities
    Help Organize and facilitate youth mobilization, registration and awareness creation events on the importance and role of youth SACCOs.
    Promote and support youth groups and coalitions to innovative and/or create different ways to generate income such as fundraising initiatives and external funding via grants and sponsorship to ensure sustainability of the youth centers and community projects.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business management, Accounting, Development studies, Cooperative Management, Economics, Agri business and other related fields.
  • Minimum of 1 year’s prior work experience and demonstrated practical skills in working with youth owned and led enterprises, women self-help groups, small and micro enterprise development, financial service providers, one stop centres and job matching service providers.
  • Certifications, training courses on saving skills, business development and SACCO
  • Strong commitment to working with youths
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills and ability to solve problems
  • Proficiency in computer software application, report preparation and data management.
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic language, written and spoken.
