Cheshire Ethiopia (CE) was established in 1962 by the grand Children  of the late Emperor Haile Selassie and with technical support of Captain Leonard Cheshire. CE is a local independent NGO, staffed by Ethiopians and registered as an Ethiopian Resident Charity, while playing a leading role in physical rehabilitation of person with disability mainly children in Ethiopia.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Senior wheeled Mobility and walking Aid Production Technician, the wheeled Mobility and walking Aid Production Technician operates and maintains simple welding machines, power tools and production equipment and process, fabricates and assembles common mobility devices like basic wheelchairs and walking frames

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates, maintains simple welding machines, power tools and production equipment and process, fabricate and assemble common mobility devices like basic wheelchairs and walking frames
• In the absence of senior metal worker plans, controls, reports all metal fabrication work including material inputs quality control
• Maintain and repair machineries and production equipment,
• Fabricates the different parts of Mobility Aid or tricycle or other metallic or wooden appliances for example drapes, slip covers, sheets, pillow and seat cases, fittings.
• Assembles the parts produced to Mobility Aids, tricycle, etc
• Makes dressings, painting and finishing/cosmetic works
• Trains and assists users of the products on how to make use of the Mobility Aid or tricycle or other metallic appliances including minor maintenance
• Train staffs in the Mobility Aid workshop on the development of Mobility Aids, tricycles and any other metallic appliances
• Prepares annual materials requirements for his/her work
• Write reports of the activities undertaken by him/her as required
• Performs any other related duties as directed by the Senior wheeled Mobility and walking Aid Production Technician.

Job Requirements

Qualification : Level III or Level II in Metal Processing and fabrication

Experience : 3 years in production for Level III and 6 years for Level II
