Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

RESPONSIBLITIES 

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and other stakeholders

  • Conduct sanitation & hygiene activities in partnership with communities, local government, and partners in the approved yearly plans
  • Organize & conduct hygiene promotional activities in the communities by using different campaigns, home-to-home education
  • Closely follow up, monitor, and manage the changes in the process to the triggered villages and ensure 100% open defecation-free kebeles in the target woreda.
  • Provide periodic monitoring, follow-up & support for WASH business suppliers and communities/consumers to internalize, produce, and utilize improved WASH products & services
  • Assist/ provide technical support for communities to organize themselves for the WASH program design, implementation, monitoring, and decision-making process
  • Engage in the preparation, designing, and contextualization of appropriate guidelines, training manuals and standards, educational materials, and promotional tools for WASH activities
  • Organize the community to ensure the sustainability of WASH facilities (water utility management/ improved sanitation facilities construction & utilizations, preparing hand washing facilities, etc.)
  • Produce and submit reports to the AP manager and/or AP MEAL officer as per the standards of the AP and LEAP
  • Organize success/best stories, so that they can be documented, prepared, shared, and documented at least once per quarter
  • Assure that sponsorship is fully integrated into the planning, implementation, and monitoring systems of the  TP plan
  • Monitor an assigned portfolio of registered children as per the sponsorship standards in coordination with a group of volunteers and AP institutions.
  • Support the capacity development of volunteers and institutions to manage RC communications and program mobilization.
  • Represent World Vision’s core values, mission, vision, and strategy with communities, local partners, and local government.
  • Assure that relevant cross-cutting themes (child protection, HEA, gender, disability, and environment) are integrated into the TP implementation
  • Contribute to the development of new projects and activities to be implemented as part of the TP.
  • Carry out any other duties as instructed by the AP manager.

Requirements

Required education ,training license ,registration and certification

  • BSc Degree in Environmental health science, public health officer and relevant field of health studies.

Required Professional Experience

  • 3 and above years of NGOs experience​

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Sanitation marketing/WASH business, Menstrual hygiene management/school WASH program & CASH/ health institution WASH program.
  • Basic/advanced level computer skills.
  • Excellent Communication skills in English & Knowledge of local language is advantageous.
  • Working experience in community development.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

  • Field based with frequent travel to project implementation KA.

Language Requirements :

  • Excellent Communication and written skills in English & Knowledge of local language is advantageous .
