Job Description


Jerusalem Children and Community Development Organization (JeCCDO) is an Ethiopian Resident Charity Organization working for the wellbeing of children, women and youth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) activities in the IDP camps and surrounding areas, ensuring access to clean drinking water and proper sanitation facilities.
  • Conduct WASH assessments in the camps to identify needs and gaps, and develop appropriate interventions.
  • Oversee the construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance of WASH infrastructure, including water points, latrines, and waste management systems.
  • Ensure that WASH activities are integrated with other project components, including health, protection, and food security.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WASH interventions and provide regular reports to the Project Coordinator and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate community engagement in WASH initiatives, promoting ownership and sustainability of WASH services in the camps.

Job Requirement

  • Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Water and Sanitation Engineering, Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  •  Experience:  
  • At least 3 years of experience in implementing WASH projects, particularly in humanitarian settings or conflict-affected areas.
  • Strong technical knowledge of WASH systems, including water supply, sanitation facilities, and hygiene promotion.
  • Experience working with displaced populations or in emergency settings is an asset.
  • Familiarity with WASH standards, including Sphere standards and other relevant guidelines.
  • Fluency in English and Amharic. Knowledge of additional local languages is an advantage.

Duty station: Debre Berhan, with travel to IDP camps in the area

Condition of employment-:  One year contract with possibility of extension based on performances and continuity of the project.
