The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent humanitarian organisation helping people forced to flee. As the Volunteer Program Management Specialist, you’ll be working with Authority for Civil Society Organization (ACSO) along with their team in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. In this role, you will support the efforts to enhance the organization’s capacity to promote its work and raise resources for sustaining its mission.

Ethiopia is home to the third largest number of diplomatic missions in the world, after New York and Geneva. As the national capital, Addis Ababa remains the economic, political and administrative hub of Ethiopia. The city has gained international significance as the headquarter of the African Union (AU), UN Economic Commission for Africa (UN-ECA) and a regional office for a number of international organizations including UNDP, UNESCO and the European Economic Commission

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Enrich the national guideline note for volunteerism promotion through the participation of Cuso International and volunteers
  • Assess M & E system in place for the programs
  • Conduct inventory and needs assessment on designed training packs on promoting and managing youth volunteering programs
  • Design and deliver training with volunteer directorate
  • Develop an online training module on gender equality
  • Increase awareness of national volunteers and CSOs on gender equality through VMIS platform
  • Work with local team to build capacity on documentation of results of national volunteer program.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development or Project Management, Sociology or social science, community development, sociology, social science, human resource and related field.

Essential Background:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in leadership roles with a focus program design and implementation
