Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

About Job

  • Reporting to TSFP officer, the TSFP facilitator will be responsible to ensure WFP supported TSFP program (at the respective woreda level) is executed in line with the national and international humanitarian standards and donor guidelines and it demands ability to manage, organize and support all aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other agencies including UNICEF, WFP, and UNOCHA at Governorate/district level to in order to effectively implement TSFP and other related project activities in a cost effective manner.
  • Coordinate for the smooth and accurate running of the TSFP program through activity planning, capacity building, food commodity management, and supervision follows the National, Regional, and WFP TSFP protocol.
  • The officer is responsible to lead the implementation, strengthen the linkage between therapeutic cares in the TSF, site distributions and ensure regular and timely report compilation and submission is done in the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP).

Major Responsibilities

  • Respect the dignity of beneficiaries, caretakers and members of the community at all times.
  • Responsible for the day to day coordination and management of outreach workers, crowd controllers, community mobilizers and food disturbers at field level
  • Prepare distribution plans, request distribution dispatches and follow up proper storage at FDC level until the distribution.
  • Facilitate screening, verify and compile screening data.
  • Compile data and information and accordingly report the progress to the senior project officer
  • Identify and refer children from the distribution sites to OTP or SC sites
  • Record, monitoring status data such as weight gains and feeding of children in the program
  • Fostering good relationships with community, community elders, community leaders and other health personnel to encourage good information sharing
  • Refer sever children who are under the SFP program to the OTP when necessary
  • In coordination with community outreach workers and food distributors, provide education to the community members on nutrition and health related issues
  • Involve in nutrition surveys as well as in other concern task when necessary
  • Record and keep admission, discharge and death data to be submitted every two weeks
  • Make sure that all equipment and materials kept clean and safe
  • Collect, compile and share weekly and monthly distribution reports to the TSFP/BSFP Coordinator

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • Minimum three years of working experience with NGOs in TSFP/BSFP program
  • Experience in BSFP/TSFP , Food Aid programs or community-based nutrition intervention preferably in emergency context
  • Knowledge of latest developments in nutrition and food security
  • Knowledge and practical experience of the national/international Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) protocols and BSFP Programming is an advantage
  • Experience in facilitating trainings and workshops.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification : BSc degree in Public Health/ Clinical Nursing/Nutrition and related health field of study preferred from accredited universities or health colleges.

  • TSFP/BSFP Training
  • Revised 2019 IMAM guideline training
  • TSFP/BSFP Training

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Knowledge, training and experience in management of TSFP/BSFP and SAM management
  • Demonstrated skills in TSFP/BSFP and CMAM program planning, implementation and monitoring.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good human relation skills. Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours
  • Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions;
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values;
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity and integrity;
  • Prepared to live and work in a remote and uncertain security environment
  • Fluent in oral and written English and Tigrigna
