The Policy Studies Institute (PSI) is mandated to conduct rigorous research and policy analysis that provide evidence-based inputs to policymaking and policy implementations; and disseminate its research outputs and findings to the policymakers, researchers, academia, development partners, and other stakeholders. PSI is seeking qualified candidates to strengthen its database development and management and statistical innovation for data-driven research. In this regard, PSI is looking for candidates with a proven track record in data development, data management, data digging, data analytics and related tools.

Duties and responsibilities

• Designing and implementing database strategies and systems.
• Overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of data for data-driven empirical/policy analysis.
• Organize data (from national and international sources) by thematic areas
• Implementing data privacy and usage policies and protocols and complying with data protection regulations.
• Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) data analysis tools to generate data, data analytics, data visualization, and report.
• Provide training on analysis of software and tools (e.g., R, STATA, SPSS, Python, etc)
• Effectively communicating the status, value, and importance of data collection to researchers and executive members
• Assume reporting functions, including producing regular reports demonstrating trends and patterns, and producing reporting templates
• Create and maintain good working relations with all researchers and management members
• Hiring, supervising, and mentoring database development teams

Job Requirement

Education, Qualifications Essential Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Experience:

• Minimum Master’s Degree in Data Science and Statistics,
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in database development and data management role
• Excellent mathematical and statistical skills – analytical skills
• Advanced proficiency in programming languages, such as SQL, Oracle, R, STATA, Python, etc;
• Proficiency in Spread sheet tools such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, Tableau or Qlik or R
• Ability to prioritize own workload and work with minimal supervision
• Advanced English language skills (written, reading, and spoken)
