Job Description


Major Duties and Responsibilities

– Ensure that all relevant documents are presented as per the checklist of the Bank

  • Check the files received from Branches and ensure  all relevant documents are attached in the file
  • Inform applicants the documents required for loan processing(if the applicant approach directly to CMD)
  • Check all the documents required for analysis is presented by the client (if the application is lodged directly to CMD)
  • Timely inform the Branch missing documents and consult Branches in case of discrepancies

 – Make detail analysis on the credit request (including project finance) and write assessment report as per the Bank’s format

  • Check the applicant’s request is within the credit policy and procedure of the Bank
  • Check the applicant’s relationship with the Bank.
  • Ensure the credit information gathered from other Banks justifies the credit worthiness of the client
  • Check the financial statement of the applicant and analyze in terms of various financial analysis techniques and interpret the result.
  • Conduct business visit to the applicant’s site
  • Analyze the business, financial, management and collateral risk, undertake risk grading as per the Bank’s procedure.
  • Come up with proper recommendation
  • Present the credit cases to committee

– Ensure customers are satisfied with the Bank’s credit service

  • Ensure all analysis report is finalized within the set loan processing time
  • Give credit related advise for customers if they need any

– Assist in reviewing the Bank lending policy and procedure

  • Solicit ideas and suggestions from customers to develop new credit products
  • Suggest solutions if there is any bottle neck in the credit policy and procedure

– Ensure that loans are disbursed as per the terms and condition of approval

  • Check the approval of the loan is as per credit policy and procedure of the Bank
  • Review loans disbursed during the month detect deviations from terms of decision; and inform the Branch that needs an immediate corrective action

– Check loans and advances are repaid as per the terms and conditions of the loan contract

  • Ensure monthly report is properly prepared by the Branches
  • Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of the loan and end use of funds;
  • Identify early warning signals, if any, and initiate remedial measures thereby averting loss from possible default.
  • Monitor performance to check continued viability of operations;

– Undertake Workout Activities within the District

  • Conducts negotiation with customers with problem loans and advances, proposes resolution mechanisms, and follow-up the restructured loans and customer’s business
  • Follow-up legal action (foreclosure/litigation) and searches for attachable or foreclosed properties,
  • Propose full or partial write-off hopeless loans and advances,
  • Conducts post write-off follow-up in collaboration with the concerned branches,
  • Closely works with respective Branches for timely execution of remedial measures of problematic loans,
  •  Prepares and presents credit appraisal proposal to the concerned credit committees,

– Properly Classify loans as per NBE directive and maintain loan provision

  • Check Branches classify their loans and advances as per NBE’s parameter.
  • Reclassify loan and advances when deemed necessary with sound reason
  • Ensure the loan provision is properly maintained for any potential credit losses risk

– Manages the credit portfolio of the District

  • Assess the credit portfolio of branches by loan status  etc are within the set portfolio limit
  • Provide timely, meaningful and accurate information about adverse exposures
  • Provide relevant information so as to enable revisiting the strategy or policies of the Bank;

– Compiles and prepares periodic report

  • Compile monthly loan disbursement, collection and outstanding report of Branches in the District.
  • Prepare the reports on gender basis
  • Prepare various reports required by the National Bank of Ethiopia including provision report.
  • Prepare loan review report to the management
  • Participates in other activities of the Districts’ NPL management committees in conformity with the enclosures of the credit policy, procedure and other regulations of the Bank and NBE,
  • Mentors and assist in training of subordinate staff, credit analysts,

– Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Requirement

  • MBA/MA in Economics, Accounting, Management, Business Administration and any other related fields with 3.5 years of experience or BA in the same fields with 5.5 years of experience in relevant fields in banking industry of which at least 2 years as a relevant officer position.
