Job Title: Senior Project Officer – Communications

Band: 8

Reports To: Chief of Party -Ethiopia Seed Activity

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and creative senior communication officer to join feed the future Ethiopian Seed Activity team. The job incumbent will produce content for projects and will use effective communications channels to help position CRS Ethiopia for funding and influence and ensure strategic alignment of communications, consistent messaging, and a strong brand identity. The content Creator will contribute to raising the country program’s profile with target audiences, including donors, partners, local media, national and local government, the Catholic church, and others. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing digital marketing strategies, creating engaging content for our online platforms, and supporting our social media presence.

Role and Key Responsibilities:

Write, design, and manage production of creative and compelling stories for a range of audiences.

Lead all graphic design products for the ESA.

Ensure all ESA factsheets and briefs remain up to date.

Develop ESA banners, audios and signs.

Develop content creation for social media channels and create content platforms.

Support dissemination of relevant information among ESA staff and project participants or other relevant actors related to the ESA.

Support the creation of manuals and trainings for ESA staff on issues related to communications, and media.

Edit assigned ESA dashboard pages using CRS resources on content, style, message, and voice to ensure clear, accurate, consistent, and engaging presentation of our work.

Develop ESA monthly bulletin.

Collaborate with the CRS Ethiopia Country Program (CP) Communications Manager to carry out responsibilities for projects and initiatives beyond the ESA program. This involves assisting in report, helping organize major CP events, documenting CP donor/field visits, providing regular content for diverse CP materials and the CP Facebook page, and actively engaging in the CP communications working group.

Create high-quality, engaging content (text, images, short videos) to market our work on digital media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, CRS Ethiopia website, etc.).

Develop and implement digital marketing campaigns to drive traffic and grow our social media presence across various platforms.

Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in digital marketing and content creation.

Monitor and analyze the performance of digital marketing campaigns based on audience feedback and data and make recommendations for improvement

Conduct interviews, and field visits to gather information and generate engaging content that highlights the organization’s work and impact.

Communicate and articulate ideas and capture moments through photography and short videos.

Archive photographic images in a database.

Use traditional or digital cameras, along with a variety of equipment such as tripods, filters, and flash attachments, and arrange objects, scenes, lighting, and background to adhere to specifications.

Design communication materials for print and social media.

Support the production of creative and compelling communication materials –stories, articles, photos, videos, factsheets, brochures, etc.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice.

Organize events in coordination with program and operation teams, and provide marketing support for events, including signage, handouts, talking points, photos, liaising with media, etc.

Work closely with the communications team to ensure a consistent stream that aligns with CRS’ strategic communications goals and ensure donor visibility are adhered to.

About You

Typical background, experience & requirements

Education and experience:

Master’s degree/BA degree in communications, journalism, or related studies.

Minimum 3 years for Master’s and 5 years for BA degree progressive marketing and communication experience, ideally for an INGO or an organization working in development and relief programming.

Experience in creating content for social media platforms and managing social media presence for an organization.

At least three years of experience practicing photography.

Creative, innovative and a strategic thinker.

Basic experience in capturing and editing videos (basic) for social media platforms.

Experience working in INGO’s, or UN is preferred.

Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications and desktop publishing skills.

Must be able to use Adobe Suite to edit photos, and Canva to edit videos.

Graphic design skills are desirable.

Must possess the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work in a systematic and organized manner.

Ability to prioritize competing demands.

Ability and desire to work well with program teams in a cooperative and friendly manner.

Required Language: English and Amharic (other local languages would be a plus).

Travel Required: 50% travel within Ethiopia.
