Job Description


The Senior Project Coordinator is responsible for overall coordination, implementation and reporting of LEGO/IRC funded Play Matters Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM) in Woldia and Mersa (PM-ERM) project, both financial and programmatic. He/she oversees and manages field-based staff in all program and operational aspects. He/she is also responsible for the timely monitoring and evaluation of the project.         

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the overall project management
  • Prepare detail project implementation plan (DIP) and ensure its effectiveness according to the overarching strategy and project agreement made with the donor
  • Coordinate baseline and end line evaluation process as well as assessment of the existing data on targeted beneficiaries and their needs
  • Participate in designing of new emergency response projects in collaboration with Senior Emergency Program specialist and other relevant sectors at CO level
  • Collect and manage data relevant to the implementation of the project consistently to ensure such information is used for effective program decision making.
  • Prepare and adopt manual that will utilized for the project for training and staff use.
  • Actively facilitate information-sharing, collaboration, and cross-learning processes
  • Manage, monitor, and guide contracted consultants/partners to work on the activities and objectives listed in the work plan and ensure that their work is conducted in a timely manner and with high quality.
  • Liaise with local/government authorities at regional level to ensure compliance with government and subnational education cluster coordination’s (national/regional/ and zonal level education cluster coordination)
  • Manage operating budget of the project for the project implementation including procurement, cost for the materials purchase and any other expenses incurred for EiP project (PM-ERP)
  • Liaise with NGOs/UN agencies in to ensure coordination of inputs and resources for project activities
  • Together with the M&E team and technical staff, monitor project activities according to the project monitoring framework and implementation plan.
  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

Job Requirement

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 5+ years of relevant practical experience out of which two years in managing NGO emergency response project.
  • Experience in leading the project implementation specially in emergency program
  • Experience in emergency or post-emergency settings,
  • Technical experience in managing education program in emergency, teaching methodology, need assessment, planning and facilitation skill is an asset
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Ethiopian education policy and Education in Emergency programming
  • Good understanding and Experience in Learning through play technique, alternative basic education (accelerated learning program & Accelerated School readiness), psychosocial support, teachers training

Education

  • BA/BSC degree in education, social work, sociology, child protection, educational planning and administration, psychology, public health, and relevant fields of social sciences.
  • Master’s degree in the field is advantageous.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong planning, monitoring, reporting   and documentation of lessons learned
  • Strong experience in collaborating and partnering with the government and other EiE partners
  • Proven operational level experience
  • Good understanding of the external operating environment including government policies, strategies, guidelines, and operating procedures in managing emergencies and the actual situation of the conflict affected areas of Amhara region

Place of work:  Addis Ababa, with frequent field travel to N/Wello Zone and other ChildFund’s operational areas
