Job Description


AMI is expanding rapidly. We are looking for an ambitious and talented Senior Programme Manager to lead in the implementation of cutting-edge blended learning programmes as the core ‘face of AMI’ to our clients. S/he will: manage core client relationships for ongoing programmes, plan and deliver engaging learning programs end-to-end, review core learning outcomes and metrics (and problem solve on the fly!) and facilitate programme kick off and close out sessions.

The Senior Programme Manager will report to the Director of Implementation and will be based in Ethiopia, working with a remote team Programme Managers and Associates in other countries to support our clients in Jigjiga, Ethiopia. You will be a key player in a dynamic, international team focused obsessively on results. At AMI, we work hard, innovate constantly and have fun. Key Mandate:

  • Manage stakeholders and participants in complex and multiple programmes and ensure that programme deliverable are met within stringent timelines while identifying stakeholder and participants pain points and proactively resolving the pain points.
  • Evaluate core learning outcomes and metrics within learning programmes and adapt design and delivery and ensure programme impact is realized.
  • Plan and deliver complex learning programs end-to-end: Be the lead on client learning programs, build implementation plans, and manage core logistics and programming for both online and face-to-face components of AMI’s blended learning programmes.
  • Work with and coach a team of programme managers and ensure they meet their programme and personal objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Programme Management |

  • Manage clients and all external and internal programme stakeholders and ensure that all communications are well managed.
  • Liaise with clients after contract signing and throughout the learning programme to ensure that clients expectations are managed, programs run smoothly and issues are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans and budgets and monitor the project scope and budget throughout the life of the programme.
  • Take lead to develop, customize & implement detailed engagement to ensure that the participants and stakeholders feel supported.
  • In collaboration with the M&E team, capture project outcomes/impact and lessons learned and share with internal and external programme stakeholders.
  • Identify programme risks at the start of the programme, and ensure programme risks are effectively managed.
  • Maintain accurate programme data and analyse programme data and feedback to ensure core programme metrics and targets are being met (adapt as necessary)
  • Manage all programme documentation, ensuring that programme data is organized, formatted and stored in an orderly manner.
  • Plan and deliver complex learning programs end-to-end: Be the lead on client learning programs, build implementation plans, and manage core logistics and programming for both online and face-to-face components of complex programmes

People management |

  • Work with and coach a team of project managers and ensure they meet their programme and personal development objectives.
  • Provide extensive guidance to programme managers and support them with programme engagement throughout the programme.
  • Support programme managers with internal programme Kick off sessions.
  • Manage a team of project managers and ensure that they follow standard company procedures such as PTMs, programme documentation etc.

Facilitator Network Management |

  • Work with the Learning Designer to manage and provide ongoing support and assessment for existing facilitators.

Logistical management |

  • Liaise with external travel resource agents to plan workshop logistics for participants
  • Arrange project team meetings with different programme stakeholders
  • Plan and prepare for project workshop sessions, supporting partners activities

REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Strong analytical skills – ability to understand and analyse learning and development needs
  • Ability to identify business challenges and work with the learning designers to turn them in to learning and development solutions
  • Outstanding Programme Management and Project Management skills
  • Ability to develop and implement replicable processes
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal. Ability to liaise confidently with clients
  • Strong people skills – ability to work with a diverse, high-performing team across Africa
  • Independent, self-motivated and able to take full ownership of own workstreams
  • Training and facilitation skills preferred but not essential
  • Ability and confidence to work with senior management and small-scale entrepreneurs
  • Understanding of the management education/ corporate training in East Africa

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Fluent in Somali, both written and spoken (essential)
  • Should be based in Jigjiga or willing to relocate to Jigjiga.
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in business consulting, company training, enterprise development or management education (essential)
  • Proven programme Management skills and experience (essential)
  • Facilitation experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in entrepreneurial or high-growth environment (essential)
  • Graduate degree or equivalent experience
