Job Description


Department :- NICU

Reports to: – Head Nurse

Main duties and responsibilities

Help Head, Nurse in the preparation of staff and patients schedules to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times to ensure effective patient services. Participate in program development and in development and implementation of operating policy and procedure. Provides triage advice and guidance to physicians and staff referring patients to the clinic. Maintain confidentiality in matters related to patient, family and client facility staff. Conduct ongoing assessments as determined by patient’s condition and/or the client facility’s policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly.

Specific duties & responsibilities

  • · Attending births and providing care for infants directly after birth.
  • · Evaluating and overseeing the care of infants in the NICU.
  • · Monitoring the health of infants suffering from medical issues relating to birth, such as prematurity or congenital defects.
  • · Performing tests and obtaining and evaluating the results.
  • · Providing treatment and administering medication as proscribed by the NICU physician.
  • · Documenting patient history.
  • · Running and maintaining the equipment in the NICU.
  • · Educating new parents on the care of their new infant; for example, breastfeeding.
  • · Communicating with parents or guardians about the care and medical procedures related to their infant
  • · Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants.
  • · Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers.
  • · Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications.
  • · Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.
  • · Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment.
  • · Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
  • · Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.
  • · Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.

Job Requirements

Education : BSC in Nursing

 Work Experience : 6 Years Related Experience and 1 Years experience in NICU or ICU.
