2.General information of the job

• Department: Finance
• Immediate Supervisor: General Accounts Head
• Location: Addis Ababa, Head Office

3. Purpose of the Job

• The Senior General Accountant manages daily finance operations, ensuring accurate transaction recording, reconciliations, and month-end closings. The role prepares management accounts, annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS, and audit schedules, while ensuring tax compliance and maintaining strong internal controls

4. Major duties and Responsibilities

• Review journal entries to ensure accurate account coding and compliance with accounting standards.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in a timely manner.
• Ensure the accuracy of the trial balance and all supporting schedules.
• Prepare monthly management reports to support informed decision-making.
• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for external auditors.
• Ensure timely filing and payment of all tax obligations.
• Manage reconciliation of bank and other accounts
• Maintain proper tax documentation and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

5. Education & Experience

• BA Degree in Accounting & Finance or related fields
• Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience out of which 2 years is at senior level
• Manufacturing/Audit firm industry experience is highly preferred.

5.2 Skills

• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and regulations.
• Experience preparing audited financial statements.
• Good knowledge of IFRS
• Strong proficiency in Excel and accounting software
