Job Description


HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation is a Swiss based organization registered with Agency for Civil Society Organizations and working in the areas of Rural Infrastructure, Natural Resources Management, Governance and Peace, Skill Development and Employment, and Emergency Responses. HELVETAS Ethiopia is presently looking for a motivated and competent Finance and Administration Officer for its office at Sekota, Wag-Hemra Zone of Amhara National Regional State.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day human resource, financial and administrative (including staff safety and security) functions of the office; ensure compliance with financial internal controls, and transactions are processed and assets managed in accordance with HELVETAS Financial manual (FM);
  • Perform monthly/annual accounts closure, including bank reconciliations and submission of timely and accurate reports to program office;
  • Proactively engage in financial risk management and fraud prevention measures;
  • Plan, schedule and control pooled vehicles fleet management system and cost center based costing;
  • Manage the accounting software to generate accurate and timely reports on budget and spending;
  • Ensure compliance to the policies and procedures in the procurement of goods and services;
  • Ensure the correct application of financial tools and procedures as required by the donor agencies;
  • Ensure adequate and timely communication on financial matters within the team and to program office;
  • Prepare timely budget utilization reports and variance analysis;
  • Establish standard administration and logistics procedures and practices;
  • Ensure adherence to local safety and security plan/protocol;
  • Manage and supervise the administration, finance and support staffs of the Sekota office.

Job Requirements

Qualification: A minimum of BA degree in accounting;

Experience: A minimum of seven years of working experience on financial/administration related works and of which a minimum of two years on supervisor roles, work experience in international NGO and donor agencies is advantageous.

Skill and Competency:

  • Possess high integrity and professionalism in the discharge of roles and responsibilities,
  • Computer literate;
  • Proven experience and skill in working with accounting software;
  • Good command of English language (written and spoken);
  • Ability to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to handle stress, work under pressure and deliver excellent quality reports;
  • Possess excellent intercultural mediation;
  • Perform related tasks.
