Job Description


Wireless Innovative MMIC (WIMMIC), a semiconductor business based in Spain and the UK. Part of the Celestia Technologies Group (CTG), is looking for an experienced PA design engineer to be its new team member.

A broad range of technical domains are being worked on including Antenna, RF, Signal Processing, Beamforming, Digital Design and Real-time Software.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Generate new PA topologies and architectures to achieve very challenging system requirements
  • Create floorplanning of entire layout and assist in on-chip layout
  • Optimise given specification and design of on-chip blocks such as Power amplifiers, RF switches, attenuators, biasing circuits
  • Desirable experience includes Ku / Ka frequency bands operation for satellite applications including Phased Array antennas (PAA)
  • Evaluate the designed chip in the lab either in hand- or automated measurements
  • Discuss block and system performance with System Engineers
  • Prepare and participate in design, spec., and layout reviews
  • Take ownership of your tasks; plan and execute in line with project needs
  • Document and disseminate your works in line with project wide expectation
  • Report to Technical Director

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • 10+ years commercial experience designing RF solutions and key blocks. Power amplifiers, bias circuits, op-amps, using SiGe BiCMOS, RF CMOS
  • Familiar with well-known RFIC design tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso and Calibre
  • Experience of using RLC extraction and mutual coupling using Cadence EMX
  • Familiar with RF CMOS, SOI, SiGe BiCMOS technologies
  • Understanding limitations and solutions of practical RF circuits and packages, e.g., coupling effects, isolation requirements, track and substrate loses, antenna feed calibration, signal loss at interfaces etc.
  • Familiar with lab test setups using signal analyzers, VNAs, signal generators, digital oscilloscopes, power meters, etc.
  • Proficient in MS Office tools and competent working on either Windows or Linux
  • BSc, Masters or PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, or similar
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A can-do mind set
