Summary of the role

AGL Logistics Ethiopia S.C. is a leading multinational logistics company seeking highly skilled and experienced professionals to fill the positions of Senior Air Freight Officer and Senior Sea Freight Officer. These roles are integral to our operations, requiring individuals with strong expertise in freight logistics, customs clearance, and end-to-end supply chain management.

The selected candidates will be responsible for managing air and sea freight logistics operations, ensuring timely documentation, customs clearance, cargo delivery, and client satisfaction. They will also play a key role in coordinating with clients, customs authorities, and internal teams to streamline processes and maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• File Management:
  • Receive documents from clients and ensure all necessary paperwork is in place to open files.
  • Advise clients on missing documents and follow up to obtain them promptly.
  • Open files and hand them over to customs assessors for registration and clearance.
• Customs Clearance:
  • Follow up on customs registration, calculate duties and taxes, and advise clients on payment requirements.
  • Process CPOs, duty-free letters, and other customs-related documents.
• Documentation and Processing:
  • Handle original bills of lading, transit requests, container bond submissions, and inspection requests.
  • Arrange container bond insurance and send Electronic Customs Declaration (ECD) to Djibouti.
  • Ensure timely processing of permits such as health permits, INSA, and ECA permits as required.
• Coordination and Follow-Up:
  • Coordinate with truck drivers to provide real-time updates on cargo status and delivery.
  • Follow up on loading, inspection, release, and delivery of cargo.
  • Track the return of empty containers to Djibouti and ensure customs declarations are finalized.
• Reporting and Record-Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely reports on operations.
  • Raise service invoices and ensure disbursements are handled efficiently.
• Client Communication:
  • Provide regular updates to clients, including sending final AWB copies (for exports) and delivery PODs.
  • Address any client queries and ensure a seamless service experience.
• General Support:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
