Melbet is a world known betting company. It was founded in 2007. It has opened a betting company in Ethiopia and is looking for a senior accountant, preferably a male, that would answer to the Marketing Manager in Cyprus. Preferred language is English, both written and spoken. And it would also be a plus if the person has experience in a betting company.

What is a Senior Accountant?

As a senior accountant, you will analyze complex financial records and reports. You oversee a company’s accounting operations. Senior accountants regulate and authenticate financial transactions. You maintain a ledger to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks. It is your job to balance accounts and confirm and verify bank statements on behalf of the company. You will need experience using electronic ledger systems. Additionally, you will need a thorough knowledge of accounting procedures, including preparing month-end reports and financial forecasts. You need a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Responsibilities for Senior Accountant

• Create and analyze liability, asset, and capital accounts by compiling electronic data and required documentation.
• Summarize and prepare financial status and transactions reports, including a profit and loss statement, and other necessary reports.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports such as financial statements and budget performance.
• Aid in the implementation of new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
• Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
• Identify areas for improvement and implement improvements to processes.
• Assist with and act as the primary point-of-contact for auditor requests.
• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

Qualifications for Senior Accountant

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, but typically a master’s degree or extensive experience in the financial field is preferred for a senior accountant position.
• 5-10 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Demonstrate advanced skills and knowledge of Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office applications and accounting softwares.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across the organization. MUST BE fluent in English both spoken and written.
• Thorough knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation
• Highly detail-oriented.
• Involvement in business registration, tax compliance and creating, distributing, and reporting tax datasheets.
• Five years’ experience working with intercompany transactions and reconciliation in preparation for audit.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a leadership role.
• Thorough understanding of financial application security ensuring that all financial data is secure and complies with confidentiality policies.
• Must be an outstanding communicator, and have established skills in accuracy, organization, and working in a high-volume environment.
