Position Title: Sales Engineer
Job Type: Full time and permanent
Location: Addis Ababa

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer is a key technical resource for the sales team, providing expertise during the pre-sales process. This role involves understanding customer requirements, designing solutions, delivering product demonstrations, and collaborating the presales team in closing deals. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer business needs, technical requirements, and challenges
  • Design and propose tailored technical solutions that align with customer requirements.
  • Tailor product offerings to address specific business needs and technical environments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders, including technical teams, decision-makers, and influencers.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, and ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to the sales team and customers.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, offering insights and recommendations based on deep product and industry knowledge.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during the pre-sales process.
  • Stay updated on competitors’ products and differentiate the company’s offerings effectively.
  • Ensure technical accuracy and alignment with customer requirements.
  • Conduct technical workshops, webinars, and training sessions for customers and partners.
  • Assist the sales team in developing account strategies and identifying new opportunities.
  • Participate in sales meetings, presentations, and negotiations to provide technical expertise.
  • Provide mentorship to junior presales engineers and other technical staff
  • Travel may be required based on the company and client needs
About You

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Certifications (HCIA or HCSA) are mandatory.
  • Experience:
  • 2-5 years of experience in a presale, solutions engineering role or related.
  • In-depth understanding of the company’s products, solutions, and services, with strong expertise in relevant technologies.

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of products, technologies, or platforms relevant to the company].
  • Exceptional verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
  • Familiarity with RFP processes and proposal writing.
  • Customer-focused with a passion for solving business challenges.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers or attend industry events.
  • Potential to advance to roles such as Presales Manager, Solutions Architect, or
  • Frequent interaction with customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders.

Additional Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
