Job Description


Overall Objectives for the Job 

Provide comprehensive clinical support to Regional Health Bureaus, Zonal and Woreda Health Offices and health facilities under the President’s Malaria initiatives (PMI) funded Malaria Diagnosis and Treatment (MDT) Activity. Reporting to the regional program manager, the regional clinical advisor is responsible for supporting improvement of quality of malaria case management across MDT activity supported health facilities in the respective region.

 

Major duties and responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible to provide technical supports to the case management activities in the following areas:

  • Provide technical assistance for regional planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of malaria diagnosis and case management activities.
  • Assist development and/or review of support tools to improve fever case management.
  • Conducting baseline and follow up assessment on malaria diagnosis and case management activities.
  • Assist development of  MDT training materials and conducting onsite and offsite trainings
  • Provide comprehensive support including the distribution of essential job aids, guidelines and  manuals as well as case management  commodities to health facilities
  • Assist design of quality assurance program for fever case management and facilitate its implementation at the supported health facilities
  • Provide regular mentorship and supportive supervision to health facility staff including health center, hospitals, health posts, regional and woreda malaria programs on fever case management
  • Participate in the regular regional technical working group meetings
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

 

 

About You

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • MD with at least two years of experience in clinical practice
  • Experience in conducting trainings, supervisions, and clinical mentorship
  • Experience in development and review of documents related to clinical case management services
  • Ability to work in team with good team spirit
  • Computer skills ( Word, Power point, Spread sheet, etc)

 

Travel Requirements: Approximately 80% travel to supported health facilities
