Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree
  • 4+ years of experience in recruiting both campus and industry hires in a multinational organization, financial services or professional services firm; experience in headhunting is a plus
  • Strong IT skills; proficiency in Excel (pivots, analysis) as well as PowerPoint and Word
  • Fluent in English plus the local language
  • Willingness to travel internationally

What You’ll Do

  • You will focus on hiring integrative junior and senior consultants (experienced professionals, campus, MBAs, APDs) as well as pushing for more diversity in the office (mainly women).
  • In this role, you will be hiring predominantly from local pools and looking to grow attraction from international pools (Europe, US) with a focus on how to effectively attract African talents into the region. You will take on innovative approaches on how to find the right talents from very diverse backgrounds in a very challenging and competitive pool. You will define and execute the ongoing strategy for recruiting all relevant profiles in terms of attraction, coaching, assessment and cultivation as well as defining an innovative approach to women’s hiring through understanding of global best practices.
  • You will conduct timely research and fact base for reporting as well as in response to refine the strategy. You will prepare accurate and clear McKinsey-formatted decks/charts and memos to present findings. You will actively manage the recruiting pipeline which involves planning, coordinating and executing all stages of the recruitment process from CV screening to administering written tests, coordinating interview days and events, and cultivation.
  • You will serve as the main contact for candidates throughout the attraction, interview, offer and cultivation stages and help to coordinate activities. You will manage all recruiting data using existing tools and systems, manage the relevant department data and systems, and liaise with all new recruits on all matters related to contracts, start date, on-boarding and office orientation. You will coordinate office orientation with the rest of Africa locations and contribute to (Africa, EEMA or firm) recruiting projects.
  • You will identify key target groups of potential candidates and new methods of attracting high potentials (LinkedIn, etc.), building a database of top priority profiles in our various target pools. You will contribute to organizing and setting an agenda of events on how to cultivate and approach these profiles. You will provide a strong presence of McKinsey in top international campuses through club sponsorships, conferences, etc. You will draft recruiting marketing materials particularly for these new recruiting sources.

Who You’ll Work With

  • You will be based in our Nairobi or Addis Ababa office as part of the Africa recruiting team and office leadership where you will develop, implement and drive strategy and best practices in recruiting.
  • The East Africa recruiting team focuses on consulting roles across key client groups with a priority to attracting top talents (local and international) into the region. With a strong growth dynamic over the past years both in terms of client activity and people development, you will experience a very entrepreneurial, fast-growing environment.
  • You will collaborate closely with the firm recruiting teams based in Europe and the US to attract high-caliber individuals from a wide range of sources while providing a gold standard recruiting process to all applications. You will collaborate with firm experienced professionals hubs, campus MBA recruiting teams and firm women teams on all efforts. You will build relationships with key external parties and identify new channels of recruiting. You will develop a strong network/community of consultants and ambassadors committed to recruiting including managing the consultant award program for their contribution into recruiting. You will cultivate and maintain relationships with internal clients, candidates and recruiting colleagues.
