Job Title: Quality Assurance/Laboratory Head

Reports to: Factory Manager

Department/Service: Management Office

Main Responsibility:

Under the general direction of the Factory Manager, and in accordance with general policies and procedures of the Company plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the quality assurance functions; formulates policies, strategies and procedures; develops, implements and maintains quality assurance systems and procedures.

Responsibilities and Authorities:

• Plans, organizes, co-ordinates, executes and directs the quality assurance of the Company.
• Formulates policies & strategies and prepares long, medium and short term operation plans for quality assurance & ensures their implementation upon approval.
• Ensures the design, documentation, implementation and maintenance of appropriate quality assurance systems and procedures and ensures their implementation upon approval.
• Verifies and confirms compliance to standard operating procedures, manuals and systems put in place by the Company and takes the necessary measures in cases of non-compliance;
• Organizes, coordinates and directs laboratory testing and quality audits.
• Communicates with Customer Service and marketing units to obtain customer quality related complaints and take the necessary corrective measures in collaboration with concerned unit.
• Organizes and coordinates the design and implementation of full-fledged quality assurance policy, train experts, etc. and designing systems and procedures so as to minimize internal & external quality failures and thereby reduce quality costs.
• Spearheads the formulation, introduction, maintenance and continuous improvement of quality assurance for the Company.
• Prepares and submits periodic performance reports on the performances and activities of the laboratory.
• Evaluates the performances of employees working under his supervision.
• Performs laboratory tests and other related managerial and non-managerial tasks.

Place of Assignment: Oromia Region Burayu woreda Tatek Industry Zone

Minimum Requirement

• Education & Experience: MSc or BSc in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering with 6 or 8 year experience respectively, in closely relevant areas

Required Competence Level

• Comprehensive knowledge of national and international laboratory quality requirements;
• Comprehensive knowledge of Flour and Flour products and related products and Sesame and related products, Soap products, etc. laboratory quality assurance methods, techniques and tools;
• Strong analytical and investigative skills;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Very high integrity and ability to solve challenging problems,
