Job Description


The Policy Studies Institute (PSI) is mandated to conduct rigorous research and policy analysis that provide evidence-based inputs to policy making and policy implementations; and disseminate its research outputs, knowledge, and findings to the policymakers, researchers, academia, development partners, and other stakeholders. PSI is seeking qualified candidates to strengthen its capacity to disseminate and communicate its analytical and policy works. In this regard, PSI is looking for candidates with a proven track record in publication, communication and dissemination of research findings and analytical works to expand and streamline its outreach and increase impact

Duties and responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing dissemination and communications strategies
  • Producing and editing professional communications materials for various audiences/stakeholders and ensuring their timely dissemination
  • Copy editing manuscripts (i.e., checks for and corrects errors in grammar, spelling, syntax, punctuation, font usage, numerals, hyphenation, consistency, factual errors, etc to improve readability & fitness)
  • Managing manuscript, peer review process and correspondence
  • Work to produce annual research conference magazine and article journal
  • Write and/or oversee the preparation, production, and dissemination of both routine and complex outreach products (e.g., policy briefs, backgrounders, media packets, news releases, articles, radio/TV broadcasts, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, Q&As, websites, speeches, briefing notes, feature stories, etc.) and disseminate to key internal and external stakeholders and audiences;
  • By understanding research findings and the policy context of research outputs, identify target stakeholders/audiences, and communication channels & massaging
  • Interpreting or translating complex research findings into a language, format, and context that non-experts can understand
  • Presenting ideas and evidence clearly at a high level, both verbally and in writing, and effectively interacting with a multiplicity of stakeholders including senior leaders, and partners;
  • Organizing workshops, conferences, seminars, and events and liaising with relevant stakeholders and participants
  • Hiring, supervising, and mentoring publication and communication teams

Job Requirement

Education, Qualifications Essential Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree or above in Communication & Journalism, Political Science & International Relations, Marketing or public relations.
  • Minimum of 6 years of directly relevant experience in outreach & communications, and copy editing works
  • Very good technical knowledge of a wide range of communication & dissemination channels and digital communication/dissemination tools
  • Proven writing and copy-editing skills in English
  • Ability to convey complex ideas in a creative, clear, direct and lively style
  • Ability to prioritize work well under pressure and capably handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills – has the ability to use standard Computer packages, e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Internet, Outlook, adobe photo shop, etc.
  • Excellent English language skills (written, reading, spoken, editing)
