Job Description

Reporting to: GASHERO evaluation project principal investigatorTerms of employment: contact

Duration One year with possible extension

Role: Lead the evaluation of the GASHIARO project

Reporting to: The principal investigator of GASHIARO evaluation at EPHI

Responsibilities:

  • Working within EPHI policies and procedures, the person assigned to this role will be responsible for the overall coordination of Geshiaro evaluation and decision making, including procurement, recruitment, logistics, liaising with implementing partners as well as program and financial reporting to the Donor.

The following list shows some examples of specific roles:

  • Preparation of all Evaluation deliverables;
  • Take stock, review, analyze and support preparation of a report; consolidate inputs from evaluation and facilitate timely delivery;
  • Lead the implementation of the evaluation work plan, respecting deadlines for specific activities and inputs described in the work plan
  • Coordinate data collection and analysis;
  • Lead the management of the day to day logistics of field-based evaluation activities, including but not limited to: deployment of teams, troubleshooting in the field for questionnaire, phone and scanner related issues, weekly meetings with data collectors to discuss issues with collection (both data and process related)
  • Organise transportation for data collectors within Wolayita during study activities
  • Lead the recruitment of data collectors and lab techs for respective evaluation activities
  • Lead the sensitization roll-out at both the kebele official level, as well as coordinating a grassroots level campaign with local media
  • Facilitate the coordination of training sessions for evaluation activities
  • Lead the translation of data collection forms and training manuals
  • Directly liaise with CIFF to provide programmatic updates meetings with project partners and stakeholders
  • Timely reporting of financial and programme reports to EPHI, MoH and Children Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF)

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience:

  • PhD in project evaluation or PhD in public health/epidemiology having a background in project evaluation
  • 9 years Experiences working in evaluation projects/research
  • Experiences in project coordination

Essential Skills:

  • Competent in verbal and written English and Amharic
  • Willing to spend long periods of time in the field

Desirable:

  • Experience with public health surveys, such as neglected tropical diseases and if possible, knowledge of Schistosomiasis and/or Soil-transmitted helminth infections

Added advantage:

  • Experience working on Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH)
  • Excellent project/research implementation and evaluation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, especially with kebele officials and local health extension workers
