Job Description


Basic Responsibilities:

As Psychology Teacher

  • Prepare and deliver engaging Psychology lessons to students from different backgrounds with different interests and abilities
  • Monitor student performance and adjust teaching strategies and techniques for improved content delivery
  • Establish classroom rules and ensure all students understand and accept them
  • Set up exams and assessments in accordance with curriculum requirements and standards
  • Communicate any student issues to Principal and parents as required
  • Come up with suggestions to improve Psychology lessons and general school operations
  • Attend school events and staff meetings as required
  • Build rapport with students so they feel comfortable and safe discussing sensitive topics in class.
  • Perform other related tasks as necessary

As Counselor

  • Counsel individuals and small groups on the basis of student and school needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed
  • Maintain confidentiality and records
  • Report possible cases of neglect or abuse and refer students and parents to resources outside the school for additional support
  • Help students create a plan to achieve academic and career goals
  • Facilitate education and programs for staff and students in areas such as self-care, mental health, drug and alcohol prevention
  • Communicate with students about specific topics, such as bullying, drug abuse, and planning for college or careers after graduation

Job Requirement

Education: Degree/ Master’s in psychology, Counseling, or relevant field, teaching certificate/license

Experience:

  • 4 years’ experience teaching international curriculum preferred
  • 2 year experience counseling youth
  • experience teaching international students
  • experience working in a highly multicultural environment
  • experience in effective classroom management

Other Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and cultural sensitivity
  • Computer literate
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules
  • Ability to relate to teenagers
  • Recommendation from a previous employer or a person known to SIM
  • Open to learn new methods
