Job Description


The Project Officer is responsible for the implementation of LEGO/IRC funded Play Matters Emergency Response Mechanism (PM-ERM) in Woldia and Mersa project activities at the respective woredas as per the developed DIP and quality standards.  The position holder will closely work with woreda level stakeholders.  He/she is also responsible in compiling and timely submission of LEGO/IRC funded Education in Emergency (EiE) reports to the Senior Project Coordinator.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Child fund’s Child Safeguarding Policy.
  • Lead the project activities implementation at respective woreda in accordance with the developed DIP and quality standards
  • Regularly compiles project reports as per agreed reporting schedule and the format of reporting.
  • Coordinate field level baseline and end line evaluation process as well as assessment of the existing data on targeted beneficiaries and their needs
  • Participate in collecting need assessments for designing of new emergency response projects
  • Provide trainings to target communities and woreda based stakeholders (where appropriate)
  • Actively facilitate information-sharing, collaboration, and cross-learning processes
  • Cooperate with contracted consultants to work on the activities and objectives listed in the work plan and ensure that their work is conducted in a timely manner and with high quality.
  • Couch and conduct performance appraisals of Community based facilitators
  • and ensure regular feedback.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with woreda level stakeholders
  • Ensure meaningful child participation in the project
  • Liaise with target schools, Health facilities and government authorities at woreda level

Job Requirement

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • At least 4 years of experience in similar position preferably with an INGO.
  • Professional experience in Education in Emergency programming, Child protection, and SGBV, MHPSS in the humanitarian aid/development context.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong planning, monitoring, reporting   and documentation of lessons learned
  • Strong experience in collaborating and partnering with the government and other partners
  • Proven operational level experience
  • Good understanding of the external operating environment including government policies, strategies, guidelines, and operating procedures in managing emergencies and the actual situation of the conflict affected areas of Amhara region
  • Good understanding and Experience in Learning through play technique, interventions related to child-friendly learning environment, early childhood education methodologies, psychosocial support, teachers training

Education

BA/BSC degree in education, social work, and other relevant fields of social sciences.
