Job Description


Doctors with Africa CUAMM is an international NGOs, based in Italy, established in 1950 with the aim of supporting developing countries in their effort to build sustainable and accessible health systems. The organization’s mission is to reduce the needless loss of lives in development and emergency contexts caused by lack of effective health care, and to contribute to improve health outcomes among the most vulnerable group of the population.

CUAMM has started its mission in Ethiopia since 1980 and Currently is operating in Oromia, South Ethiopia, Amhara, Gambella, Tigray and Somali Region as well as Addis Ababa town Administration.

 

CUAMM is looking for a Project officer with at least 5-10 years’ experience to support a new project funded by Otto Permile (8*1000) South Omo Zone.

 

The potential candidate is informed that the selection process may take long time as various skills and experiences have to be tested and verified.

 

Main Responsibility

The Project officer reports to the Regional Head of Program in Addis and is responsible for management of the health and nutrition component of the project.

 

Expected Results

  • Project activities carried out as per plan and project funds used in accordance with budget approved and adequately monitored.
  • Technical assistance activities of the healthcare personnel in TFU and other departments of the Hospitals and the health centers supported by the project.
  • Project activities integrated into government plans and implemented in close collaboration with all actors involved, including project partners.

 

Job Description:           

In particular, it carries out the following tasks:

  • Develops the operational weekly work plan of the project activities in collaboration with the project staff
  • Carry out a weekly check on the progress of activities and keep updated the OP and PMP
  • Provides backstop and technical assistance to the two Hospitals and two health centers supported by the project and the Outreach Nutritional screening and other service delivery programs implemented in the peripheral areas of the districts.
  • Maintains and develops relationships with stakeholders at different levels (donor, project partners, communities, other NGOs, local authorities including the regional and zonal health authorities)
  • Develops the purchase plan for drugs, consumables, materials and equipment based on the needs encountered in the healthcare facilities and for the MHNT, in close collaboration with the Health Officer, the Administrator and the Addis Ababa Office
  • Monitors the progress of activities and ensures monitoring of indicators
  • Processing and transmission of project reports in coordination with the Health Officers
  • Represent the organization during coordination meetings with the authorities and other stakeholders in the area.

About You

Minimum Requirement:

  • Graduate of BSC degree (or equivalent Specialist or Master’s Degree) in Public Health
  • Any other relevant qualifications to the healthcare sector (public health area) will be considered added value
  • Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English and knowledge of Amharic and South Ethiopia, Ari Zone languages are an added value.
  • At least five years of professional experience
  • Previous experience of cooperation projects in the healthcare sector, especially in Supervising, coordinating and managing an emergency and development nutrition and health projects (minimum 2 years)
  • Excellent computer skills: Ms Windows, Ms Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and team work skills
  • Aptitude for working in critical contexts for the safety factor and for problem solving
