Job Description


The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) is a humanitarian organization providing services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services.

Summary

ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Supervises controls and administer the project assigned to him/her; represents the society in all matters at project level.
  • Ensures that all drawings, specifications and other relevant documents are complete before commencement of the project.
  • Ensures the preparation of comprehensive construction program and work schedule based on the master program and taking into consideration the strategic decisions made during the kick-off of meetings of the project.
  • Follow –up & ensures that material, equipment and finance earmarked for the project are delivered on site.
  • Ensure the preparation of staffing plan and cash flow schedule of the project.
  • Ensures proper & effective management of the society’s resource allocated for the project.
  • Conducts periodic meetings with his immediate subordinates to assess the progress of the project in line with the project plan. Identify variances and determines their impact and tasks corrective measure.
  • Submits monthly progress reports to his immediate supervisor.

Terms of employment : Contract for one year

Job Requirements

Qualification Requirements:

  • MA /Bsc in Civil Engineering
  • 8/10 years of relevant experience in Civil Construction

Key competencies

  • Excellent Knowledge of design and visualization software such as Auto CAD, Civil 3D or similar
  • Proficiency in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion control ,regulatory approvals etc
  • Project management and supervision skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
