About the role

Reporting to the Program Manager TT Surgery with close collaboration with the Medical Advisor, the main purpose of the role is to provide leadership and oversight of the Trachoma Trichiasis (TT) Transition research project. The TT transition research project seeks to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Oromia Regional Health Bureau (ORHB) to pilot the implementation of the Transition Guidelines. The Project Manager will be accountable for delivery of the TT transition research project in collaboration with local partners and FHF technical and operational teams

Key responsibilities & outcomes

·         Be the main focal point and liaison for the TT transition research project between the partners, The Foundation, and other external stakeholders.

·         Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure the TT research project is effectively implemented and activities are effectively coordinated

·         Be the lead focal point with technical support teams, and other stakeholders.

·         Create and manage the research plan including data collection schedules, budgets, deliverables.

·         Oversee an effective reporting system which includes providing periodic budget and financial reports to the country office and other stakeholders as appropriate.

·         Coordinate study teams, and manage research project timelines, to ensure the research is completed within the specified timeline.

·         Conduct periodic review and evaluation of efficacy of research efforts in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.

·         Participate in regular team meetings to review research progress and deliverables.

·         Coordinate and supervise and ensure the quality of data collection activities.

·         Document case studies

·         Participate in national forums and TT transition initiatives in Ethiopia.

·         Document and disseminate learnings.

Job Requirements

  • Have at least 7 years’ experience working for international development organizations, preferably in health-related field including demonstrated capacity at a similar position.
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Research or related field;
  • Project management of complex, donor funded international development or research projects (ideally in eye health or public health).
  • Budget management experience.
  • Demonstrated capacity for high-level representation and strategic advocacy: able to engage and influence senior levels of government, multi-lateral agencies, and other partners.

·         Understands integrated primary eye care.

·         Experience working with stakeholders and the global networks involved in eye health.

·         Experience addressing compliance issues and ensuring gender equity and disability inclusion in Trachoma.
