Job Description


Dugda Children’s and Family Charitable Organization (DCFCO) is a legally registered entity since 2010 and re-registered with registry number 1747 on July 24/2019 according to the Civil Society organizations’ proclamation No. 1113/2019 as child-focused organization mandated to work in Oromia Regional State with its main office at Meki town, capital of Dugda Woreda. Currently DCFCO would like to invite interested and qualified applicants for the following vacant post.

About Job

The project is designed to contribute to the global efforts of ending child labor and substantially reduce the proportion of children not in education or training and end abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children. It takes a child rights-based approach and aimed to build capacity at different levels in society: putting the community at the forefront of preventing, monitoring, and addressing child protection issues with particular emphasis on child labor; establishing and strengthening functional community-based child protection systems, and empowering caregivers, children and youth to claim and enjoy their rights. Building capacity at all levels, and involving duty bearers and rights holders, including vulnerable groups, through all phases of the project will enhance local ownership and goal fulfillment.

Job Summary:

  • The project coordinator will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of Negalcha 3C LR project in 3 project kebeles of Dugda Woreda.
  • S/he will ensure project implementation as per agreed policies, procedures and in compliance with LoA, MoU, and other contractual agreements made with donors as well as with concerned government offices.
  • S/he will be responsible to manage project’s resources and provide technical support to the concerned project staff on designing practical strategies.
  • S/he will regularly monitor the activities at office and field level with households and ensure timely implementation.
  • S/he will assess the needs of the project targets through household survey and focus groups discussions.
  • S/he will prepare and submit Annual Operational plan.
  • Preparing annual, quarter and monthly report as per the agreement for donor and government signatory offices.
  • Carry out other organizational duties assigned by Executive Director.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Project design, implementation, and reporting
  • Provide leadership in the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation; assess the outputs, outcomes, and impact of the Project.
  • Oversee the overall process of the project implementation.
  • Coordinate the overall Negalcha 3C LR project related activities in the operational areas by supervising community development workers under her/his supervision.
  • Under the executive director leadership contribute to the development of concept notes and proposals.
  • Ensure effective and efficient management of resources, including project budgets, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost control measures.
  • Ensure M&E and learning in close collaboration with another employees.
  • Ensure quality, timely reporting and documenting and share best practice of the project to donor and respective government sectors- as needed.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the executive director.
    Policy engagement and networking
  • Establish and maintain good relationship with relevant partners, including government agencies, employers, NGOs, and other actors.
  • Commit to understand and implement the child safeguarding policy/procedure and code of conduct of the organization.
  • Makes follow up and proper documentation of plans, reports, success stories.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification:

  • BA/MA degree in Sociology, Social Anthropology, Social Work, Psychology and Social Psychology.
  • Experience: 4 years for BA degree and 3 years relevant experience for MA in similar position in NGO/INGO.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency of English language and Afan Oromo.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft office (i.e. Word, Power Point, Excel…).
  • Motor Bick driving License is an asset.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of the designed project activities indicators and priorities.
  • Ability to complete assignments in accordance with the instructions and directions.
  • Ability to interpret project information and to identify and analyze problems with implementation.
  • Ability to provide technical advice to first order in the field of the project.
  • Ability to integrate gender issues in Programme and research.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and gender-sensitive behavior and attitudes are also required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
