Job Description


Introduction:

Mary Joy Ethiopia (MJE) is registered non-governmental organization. MJE is funded by USAID as prime under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to implement a three years Family-focused HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment activity in Oromia Region. The Activity will be implemented in partnership with other sub local implementing partners. The activity aims to accelerate and sustain HIV epidemic control in Ethiopia through the delivery of high impact Family-focused HIV prevention, care, and Treatment Activity in selected 10  woredas of  SNNPR and SIDAMA regional state.

The purpose of this award is to strengthen local HIV epidemic control to achieve the goal of 95 percent of individuals living with HIV know their status, 95 percent of persons living with HIV initiated antiretroviral therapy and 95 percent of on antiretroviral therapy achieve viral load suppression by 2030. HIV mitigation services for vulnerable children will focus on case finding and linkage to HIV treatment among undiagnosed children living with HIV, on achieving better health outcomes through HIV viral load suppression and establishing interpersonal, family and community norms to achieve HIV and violence prevention (9 to 14-year-old children).

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of chief of party  the project coordinator  is responsible to  provide  the technical oversight and support for Family focused HIV prevention, care and treatment service in both region, specifically  enhancing key government partnership in both region, organizing consultative and joint supportive supervision with government, participating in team supportive supervision, scale up best practice and success stories in both region, tracking deliverable, represent MJE in both region in any meeting and communication, etc.

She/he provides evidence-based technical support jointly with MJE head office team; support government staffs to enhance community structure and resource mobilization efforts in both regions.

 MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

 Job Responsibility #1:  Program Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation 

  •  Participate in program planning development
  • Participate in team supportive supervision visit and make follow up to ensure identified gaps to be filled timely
  • Organize and conduct joint supportive supervision with key government in both region (SNPPR and SIDAMA Region) at least once per quarter
  • Organize consultative meeting with key government stakeholder in both regions to ensure partnership with the government enhanced
  • Work with BOLSA and health Bureau in both region (SNNPR and SIDAMA region) to enhance CCC (community structure) capacity and resource mobilization
  • Takes initiatives to progressively include communities and local organizations in participatory planning and implementation of the project in both Region (SNNPR and SIDAMA Region)

Job Responsibility #2:  Program Implementation and Technical Support: 

  • Supports implementing partners on the development of detailed implementation plans (DIP) of the project together with MJE head office team and ensuring quality and alignment with the program goals.
  • Works with MJE head office team to assess and identify technical assistance needs with regard to technical skills, supervision support, etc. to support implementing partners as per the finding
  • Ensures that appropriate technical and financial support is provided timely for partners to enhance their capacity to effectively undertake and support program implementation.

  Job Responsibility #3:  Networking and Learning:

  •  Establishes and maintain formal and informal communication mechanisms with government, community partners and other stakeholders in both Region (SNNPR and SIDAMA Region) particularly with health and social service-related sectors
  • Advocate to and influence governments and humanitarian organizations in both Region (SNNPR and SIDAMA region)   to meet objective of Family Focused HIV prevention, care and treatment service.
  • Ensures that reports are prepared and submitted to concerned key government offices in both Region (SNNPR and SIDAMA region) timely as per the requirement
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the program, including sharing best practice for partners and ensure ongoing personal development and learning using different platform
  • Facilitate and participates in the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned in both Region
  • Guide the continuous analysis of lessons learnt and practices, to guide the replication and scaling of the project approach in both region

Job Responsibility #4:  Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Representation
  • Represent MJE in both region in local and regional forums and different meeting.
  • Actively identify different key task force or other meeting at each key government stakeholder and participate consistently and actively.

  • Participate in gender sensitivity workshops and related events.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health and relevant background and experience with OVC and HIV prevention, care and treatment programs and initiatives

EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development and management of   USAID OVC program and HIV prevention, care and treatment programs
  • At least 3 years of Management Experience

Desired:

  • Significant exposure to projects involving networking and multiple partnerships, particularly related to health issue and social service;
  • Working knowledge of programming with vulnerable children and PLHIV.
  • NGO Experience
