Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia (HFHE) started operation in 1993 as a branch of Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). HFHE has provided simple, affordable shelter for families in Ethiopia while also working to improve Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and empower Vulnerable Groups in the country.

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day project of Resilience Building of Disaster-affected Communities (RBDC), which will be implemented in Debre Sina, Shewa Robit, and Ataye towns of Amhara region North Shewa zone. He / She represent the national office to liaison the project activities with government stakeholders and partners by ensuring the coordination, communication, and engagement of project stakeholders in the proper implementation of the designed project being implemented. While doing so He/ She is responsible in maintaining timely submition of reports to Donors, Government stakeholders and immediate supervisor. He/ She will closely work with the construction supervisor and reports to Project Manager.

Duration of the contract: One year

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare an accelerated work plan for the project implementation.
  • Facilitate and ensure the provision of awareness rasing and short-term training for target community on hygiene and sanitation awareness.
  • Timely review of monthly budget vs actual (BvA) utilization report submitted by
  • Grant Officer and communicate project progress accordingly.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to identify, select target families who are in need of immediate shelter, water supply and psychosocial support.
  • Review existing implementation approaches, and trends, and make recommendations for the project and for the National Office program review and design use.
  • Organize showcase workshops and learning forums in partnership with government stakeholders and liason partners and stakeholders with HFHE.
  • Represent HFHE and attend in forums and meetings. Present HFHE performance in the Zone, get feedbacks and work for betterment of the RBDC project.
  • Coordinate and take lead the joint monitoring visits by local government stakeholders and partners in communication with MEAL Manager by availing all the necessary logistics and resources.
  • Prepare monthly work plan vs accomplishment and ensure accountability mechanism.
  • Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates, small-scale product suppliers training and business development assistance.
  • Design information, education and communication (IEC) materials; and create appropriate project messages and plans for promotion and communication.
  • Create and strengthen the local actors to participate in the project engagement, liaise with woreda, and community level representatives, Disaster Prevention and Food Security Coordination: water, health offices, to effective implementation of the project.
  • Prepare and timely submit progress and other reports to his supervisor as required.

Requirements

Minimum Required:

  • BA degree in Project Management, Management or Development Management
  • A minimum of 6 years of related work experience in project management and coordination.
  • Experience and knowledge in resilience building works for disaster affected communities is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in rural and urban settings is an added advantage.
