Job Description


Organizational Proffile: MERSA Media Institute is a nonprofit media policy think tank. We work to help create vibrant, responsible, and independent media institutions, professional unions, and education centers through research, capacity building, and institutional support in Ethiopia.

Position Summary: The M&E Project Associate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the project’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework. This role will involve data collection, analysis, reporting, and contributing to the overall project learning and improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data collection tools and methodologies, including surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions.
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of data collection activities.
  • Analyze data using appropriate statistical and qualitative analysis techniques.
  • Generate meaningful insights from the data to inform project decision-making and improve performance.
  • Prepare regular progress reports on M&E activities, including data collection, analysis, and findings.
  • Develop comprehensive project reports, including baseline assessments, midterm reviews, and final evaluations.
  • Present findings and recommendations to project staff, stakeholders, and donors in a clear and concise manner.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the project’s learning agenda.
  • Document and share lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support the development of knowledge products, such as case studies, policy briefs, and research papers.
  • Collaborate with project staff, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective M&E.
  • Participate in project meetings and workshops to provide M&E updates and insights.
  • Perform any other related task as may be assigned

Employment Type: Fixed Term

Duration of Employment: 1 year with a possibility of extension

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

About You

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in M&E or data collection and analysis, preferably in CSO and NGO environments.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in data collection tools and software.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in working in regional contexts and collaborating with regional partners and stakeholders.
