Job Description


Good Neighbors (GN) is a global NGO founded in Korea in 1991, currently operating in 50 countries. Since 1997, the Ethiopian branch has been committed to improving lives through initiatives in child protection, education, health, and more.

Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) operates in various regions of Ethiopia, including Addis Ababa, Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, Benishangul Gumuz, Somali, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Central Ethiopia. Good Neighbors Ethiopia is now launching a new project in Benishangul Gumuz, funded by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), aimed to Increased number of FDPs are engaged in sustainable livelihood and economic opportunities.

GNE is seeking a qualified individual with Grant Project Accountant experiences to join our team based at Asossa Project.

  • Reports to: Project Coordinator by CC to Project Manager.
  • Term of Employment: Fixed term 11 months.
  • Duty Station(s): Assosa

Job Summary: The Grant Project Accountant and Admin. officer will be responsible for all aspects of financial management and accounting within the organization’s programs in refugee and host communities. This role will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support the effective and efficient use of financial resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Accounting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all program activities, including:
      • Journal entries, bank reconciliations, and cash flow statements.
      • Accounts receivable and payable.
      • Inventory management.
      • Payroll processing.
    • Prepare financial reports, including:
      • Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
      • Budget versus actual reports.
      • Donor reports.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards and donor regulations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist in the development and monitoring of program budgets.
    • Prepare financial forecasts and projections.
    • Track program expenditures and identify potential budget variances.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular internal audits and reviews.
  • Donor Reporting:
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for donors according to their specific requirements.
    • Maintain strong relationships with donors and respond to any financial inquiries.
  • Support to Program Teams:
    • Provide financial guidance and support to program staff.
    • Assist in the development of project budgets and financial plans.
    • Train program staff on financial management principles.
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in relevant workshops, trainings, and meetings.
    • Assist in the preparation of proposals and budgets for new projects.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance, fund management or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience in accounting and finance, preferably with an international NGO.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SunSystems).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data analysis software.
  • Fluency in English, local languages spoken in the community.
