Job Description


Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor on behalf of our client. You will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, meeting production goals, and fostering a safe and positive work environment.

The Role

The Production Supervisor will be expected to perform all duties and responsibilities for the operations in his/her assigned area. The successful candidate will follow plant, departmental, and job safety policies as well as know, understand, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of safe operating procedures, including housekeeping requirements.

The candidate should have a basic knowledge and understanding of all quality procedures and guidelines and possess the ability to communicate with the colleagues in the plant.

The Production Supervisor will be able to identify the non-quality products and report problems, report unsafe conditions and correct immediately, learn and use computer systems for Quality and Production reporting.

The ability to communicate with other associates and areas to ensure a good working environment is imperative.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage Production Team: Oversee and lead the production team and factory organization to achieve operational excellence and meet production goals.
  • Operate Industrial Equipment: Safely operate powered industrial vehicles such as mixer machines, and other equipment in the factory to ensure efficient production processes.
  • Flexible Work Schedule: Be available to work nights and weekends as scheduled to support production demands.
  • Ensure Safety Compliance: Enforce safety measures and protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Meet Sales Demand: Coordinate production activities to deliver plant output in alignment with sales demand and customer requirements.
  • Promote Positive Culture: Lead by example, fostering a positive and inclusive work culture aligned with company values and principles.
  • Train and Develop Employees: Provide training and supervision as needed to ensure the development and success of production team members. Lead performance management and training initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Partner effectively with Research &
  • Development (R&D), Supply Chain, Human Resources (HR), and other departments to optimize production processes and address business needs.
  • Drive Staff Performance: Accomplish production results by communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job performance, providing coaching and counseling, and enforcing company systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to Chemical Handling Procedures: Follow strict protocols for handling and mixing chemicals to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Maintain Equipment and Facilities: Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of production equipment and facilities to uphold operational efficiency and safety standards.
  • Monitor Product Quality: Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to ensure compliance with product specifications and industry standards.
  • Contribute to Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in chemical blending operations.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Initiatives: Participate in EHS programs and initiatives to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainable practices.
  • Adapt to Changing Priorities: Flexibly adjust production schedules and priorities based on changing business needs and customer demands

Salary: Negotiable

Requirements

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical/Process engineering,
  • Mechanical engineering or Electrical engineering is a plus)
  • Minimum of 5 years in a similar position.
  • Management/Leadership Qualification – advantage.
  • Experience in a chemical admixture manufacturing company is a must.
  • Past experience of production management preferably from a similar process industry.
  • Experience operating with formal quality and environmental systems.
  • A proven track record in managing people in a continuous production and manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate on a high professional level in English and Amharic.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good Computer skills.
