Job Description


Purpose of the Job:

To enhance production of the right quantity and quality of cement with the lowest possible cost by coordinating and leading employees for optimal utilization of resources and availing processed materials to downstream operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and direct people, equipment, and resources in the clinker preparation.
  • Ensure existence of team operation to carry out clinker production.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all staff.
  • Monitor clinker supply to control quality issues and apply necessary corrections.
  • Follow up for the execution of best practices concerning efficient use of materials.
  • Ensure clinker operation plant reliability, safety and other requirements are met.
  • Review and adhere to schedules and ensure completion dates are met.
  • Ensure equipment is properly operated, cared for, maintained, and used effectively.
  • Read and explain plans and specifications.
  • Adapt and apply operational guidelines to specific situations.
  • Provide guidance to staff in adjusting, repairing and maintaining machines and equipment.
  • Oversee cleaning of machineries, equipment and work area during operation and closing of operation.
  • Assist the clinker production head in reviewing procedures and investigating operating incidents and abnormalities.
  • Ensure that all the shift attendants and daily labourers in his/her area performs his/her duties and at site during working hours.

Generic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist immediate manager in preparation and implementation of work plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare, communicate and implement weekly and daily work schedules for his or her unit.
  • Coordinate and supervise daily operations and service delivery within his or her unit.
  • Coach, train, educate and mentor subordinates and support them in handling complex issues in their assigned duties.
  • Evaluate and report the periodic performance of subordinates and provide them regular feedback and support to improve their performance.
  • Provide support to immediate manager in all matters related to the management and supervision of subordinates, operations and resources within his or her unit.
  • Ensure safety, accident & housekeeping preventions implemented well in the workplace.
  • Ensure the implementation of all government (Federal and Legal) regulations and requirements.

Job Requirements

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related fields with four (4) years of demonstrated experience.

Or

  • Diploma in General Mechanics or Level IV in GMFA with six (6) years of demonstrated experience
