Job Description


GSG MINING PLC would like to invite competent, energetic, and qualified applicants for the following vacancy announcement.

Brief outline of duties:

GSG MINING PLC is looking for a qualified and experienced Procurement and Logistics Officer. The purpose of the Procurement Officer position is to coordinate and facilitate the procurement and provision of high-quality goods and services to the project.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews approved Purchase Request (PR) in accordance with the plan and budget from technical staff of the project;
  • Prepare RFQs, Collects quotations, prepares bid documents and analysis for quantity, quality, price, delivery time etc. for all requested goods and services;
  • Prepares purchase orders and notifies selected suppliers in accordance with the procurement policy and ensures items are purchased as per the PR and specification;
  • Maintains all purchasing records for control and reference purpose
  • Prepares monthly reports on procurement and logistics status and inform concerned sections;
  • Responds adequately and timely to audit queries;
  • Collects price data from suppliers on quarterly bases and analyses these for the purpose of reference by Management in making actual purchases as well as budgeting and updating vendor list.
  • Makes sure that all transport services for the project are available for the project;
  • Makes sure to follow the procedure of the procurement Manual
  • Perform other incidental duties as requested by immediate supervisor
  • Ensures that all products and supplies to be procured are as per the specifications and meet all the respective quality standards
  • Involves actively in looking for and arranging the appropriate transportation means to ship all the items procured form the suppliers to the office and the to the site
  • Engages actively in the collection, loading and shipping of all the procured items / materials to the site
  • Prepares and submits all the required way bills and other documents essential for smooth transfer of all the items / materials
  • Monitors, tracks and follows up that all items / materials loaded and sent to the site have arrived safely
  • Prepares and submits activity / performance report.

Job Requirements:

Education: BA Degree in Purchasing and Logistics, Purchasing and Supply, Business Studies, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing or related field of study.

Work Experience: At least 3+ years of experience working as Procurement and Logistics Officer in different organization and has adequate knowledge.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven language proficiency in written and spoken Amharic and English;
  • Computer literacy in MS-Word, Excel;
  • Liaising with prospective vendors / suppliers;
  • Conducting effective and appropriate negotiation;
  • Interpersonal communication and report writing skills;
  • Demonstrated technical and managerial ability, sound judgment and ability to work effectively with others at all levels;
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to effectively manage time.
