Job Description


SAMANU represents group of companies which are engaged in the business of manufacturing consumer-focused products in Ethiopia. Today these companies manufacture well-known brands for the Ethiopian market including Tena Oil, 555 and Aura Soap, Chef Luca Pasta and AquaSafe Mineral water from their facilities.

Purpose of the Position

Overseeing financial operations at all plant levels, including collaborating with plant management to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes, identify cost-reduction opportunities, and enhance profitability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Produce a monthly report on consumption of raw and packaging materials including chemical and stock movement of the plant.
  • Analyze the consumption of raw and packaging against the bill of materials, and evaluate the deviations from the plan.
  • Collect and submit periodic operational reports from the plant to management.
  • Collaborate with Finance Manager and the team to monitor and implement plant internal controls as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.
  • Initiate and take the lead in business improvement and cost-saving activities.
  • Drive improvement actions on supply chain performances (material extraction losses, energy savings)
  • Manage adjustments, write-offs, and disposal of stock as per the procedure.
  • Make sure LC cost sheet is prepared for all import purchases.
  • Control all open Purchase orders and check purchase accounts regularly.
  • Participate and challenge production performance indicators.
  • Produce ABC costing, and cost variance reports.
  • Provides input for the latest estimates as required.
  • Lead stock count of the plant, on a monthly quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Make sure that plant activities are captured into NAV.
  • Follow up the timely record keeping, reconciliation, and reporting of company payable accounts related to material supply.
  • Make sure monthly depreciation expense is recorded, manage any property tax are paid on time.
  • Follow up and management of fixed asset administration including tagging, and depreciation calculation.
  • Ensure that the supply chain investments have the proper fund application and approval.
  • Keep records of fund applications (approved, pending, rejected)
  • Follow up and report on the project spending as per the approval of the fund application.
  • Ensure preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the management.
  • Participates in the annual statutory and tax audits.
  • Collect data, summarize department costs, and analyze all financial and non-financial data.

Requirements

Functional competency : Functional knowledge of manufacturing finance, Inventory & cost accounting is a must with 10 to 12 years of experience with an FMCG background. There should be 3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory role and handling a team of 4 to 8 people.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED 

  • MSc in Finance and Accounting/MBA /Part Qualified Accountant
  • 10-12 years of financial, supply chain & manufacturing experience in accounting/analytical roles with FMCG sector experience and experience of managing teams.

Must have experience of:

  • Business Performance evaluation
  • Budgeting & Forecasting for multiple business units
  • Good internal/external communicator being able to build strong relationships, influencing and presenting at a senior level Desirable
  • Working experience in Ethiopia
  • Knowledge of local market environment & trends, government policy, and regulatory requirements
