Wings of Healing started medical missions in Ethiopia 2011. We conducted 2 medical campaigns every year till 2015. Since then we carried more frequent campaigns. Up to July 2021, WOH carried out over 40 medical missions and performed over 2600 surgical procedures for pelvic organ prolapse and over 100 procedures for different types of gynaecological cancer. We focus on providing care in the rural areas where expertise and facilities are limited. WOH provides all the surgical material required and provided assistance for patients’ travel. During many campaigns, patients received as well food and clothes. We are currently focusing on training local doctors and nurses in Ethiopia to deliver the service in many parts of the country. We have provided cervical screening to over 10,000 women in Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charities and many local hospitals and Health Centres. Job overview/ summary

The outreach nurses will be responsible to plan, execute and monitor cervical cancer screening and treatment outreach project activities. The outreach nurse will be reporting to the project coordinator.

Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Raise the awareness of the community on cervical cancer prevention and cervical cancer screening services
• Provide clinical mentorship for VIA screening service providers to give quality service
• Strengthen the OPD linkages to cervical cancer screening room
• Distribute IEC/BCC materials
• Provide cervical cancer screening service in outreaches
• Ensure forms are completed and weekly reports are send on time
• Follow the progress of patients sent for referral
• Support women and girls to adjust attitudes and behaviors through counseling services
• Prepare monthly/quarterly report to the project coordinator about progress, challenges, and any other issues pertaining to his/her duties.
• Organize and facilitate awareness raising sessions
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the project coordinator

Job Requirement

• Bsc /diploma in nursing or health officer with a minimum of one year of experience
• Previous experience in providing outreach health services will be desired
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other information processing software.
• Strong organizational skills, and ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Fluency in written and spoken English and Amharic.
