What will I be doing?

The Operation Manager as a key operational manager in the hotel is effective operational management of the hotel so as Heads of Operation Departments achieve and exceed their revenue and Guest satisfaction targets. Encourage team spirit amongst staff with leadership and guidance. Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff. Observes performance and encourages improvement. Use creative management skills to solve problems. Ensure compliance with Hilton Worldwide Brand Standards assist Director of Operation in his/her duty of managing the whole operation of the Hotel.

Essential Duties

  • In consultation with Director of Operation, Plan and direct the functions of administration and planning of operational departments to meet the daily needs of the operation.
  • Regularly review and evaluate the degree of customer satisfaction of room guests, outlets, including banquet service, to recommend new operating and marketing policies whenever a change in demand or a change in competitive environment requires such changes. Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints.
  • Participate in clear description, assignment and delegation of responsibility and authority for the operation of the various departments with special attention to Food & Beverage Outlets, House Keeping, banquets, kitchens, stewards, etc.
  • Monitor, develop and implement schedules for the operation particularly of all restaurants and bars to achieve a profitable result.
  • Assist the Operation Director in establishing and achieving predetermined Operational objectives and desired standards, service, cleanliness, merchandising and promotions..
  • Develop, along with assistance from department heads, operating tools necessary and incidental to modern management principles such as budgeting, forecasting, purchase specifications, recipes, portion specifications, menu abstracts, food production control, job descriptions, etc.
  • Insure compliance with all Hilton Hotels Corporation policies and procedures that relate to Operations, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Support Duties

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position holder may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions,

  • Attend mandatory meetings including divisional meetings, executive meetings, staff meetings, etc.
  • Participate in community public relations for the hotel,\
  • Operate traditional software programs such as Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and/or Outlook Express.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks to adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire Team Members to meet and exceed standards.

Encourage team spirit amongst staff with leadership and guidance To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:

  • Bachelor Degree in Hotel Operation or related fields of study with an excellent background knowledge in Food & Beverage
  • A minimum of Five Years’ experience in Hotel Operation with Hilton Background
  • Excellent leadership quality with good motivation and savvy for achievement
  • Good understanding of Hotel Operation with in African Culture
  • A people person who have a very good Interpersonal skill and clarity in communication
  • Obtain the ability to plan ahead and to be flexible, good administration skills
  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Computer skill with knowledge of Hotel Property Management System (Opera) and other office software

Physical & Language Requirement

  • Ability to communicate in English and one additional language preferably French both orally and in writing,
  • Ability to calmly and nicely communicate with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems
