Job Description


Purpose

The post holder responsible to plan, direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the unit. The operations manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.

He/she is responsible for the proper application of the established system, tools, procedure and polices across the operation team under supervision.

By coordinating and supervising the operation team, he/she is responsible to ensure customer expectations and requirements are emplaced and will be in a key support role to train internal staff and resolve customer inquiries regarding shipments. Establishing KPI’s and organizing all logistics related information.

Key Objectives

  • Regularly appraise his/her team members performance as per applicable performance management guideline, support the regions ocean cargo portfolio of customers, new and current.
  • Regularly appraise his/her team members performance as per applicable performance management guideline, support the regions ocean cargo portfolio of customers, new and current.
  • Control & track his/her team’s goals & activities; and regularly prepare team’s performance report & submit to his/her immediate supervisor
  • Regularly appraise his/her team members performance as per applicable performance management guideline,
  • Perform his/her people management role,
  • Plan & authorize annual & other leave entitlements of staffs under his/her custody,
  • Ensure compliance to pertinent policies & procedures (i.e. manuals, rules, regulations) that govern his/her business in particular and MACCFA and local laws in general
  • Provide inspired leadership for the operation team member
  • Strategically plan and manage freight forwarding, transportation and customer services

Reporting to Whom:

  • The post holder will be directly reporting to the  COO-Ocean Freight

Job Requirements

Educational Requirement

  • BA in Logistics or in related field of study.

Minimum Work experience

  • 5 years related work experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and support change.
  • Good customer service skills (internal and external).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with variety of individuals
