Job Description


Wako Gutu Foundation (WGF) is a national non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian and development organization established in 2006 G.C with overall objective of promoting inclusion of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities with the Civil Societies’ proclamation Number 1113/2019 bearing a registration number 0457.The foundation strives to improve the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable pastoral and agro-pastoral communities using integrated and holistic approach to bring change in the food and nutrition security, Women and youth Economic Empowerment, Humanitarian Emergency Response, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Peace building and social reconciliation and Digital technology for Development.

Summary

We are currently seeking applications from qualified and motivated individuals to join our dedicated team in the following position:

Major Responsibility:

Cashier

  • Cash Handling: Receive payments from customers and process transactions accurately using cash, credit cards, checks, or electronic payment methods. Count and verify cash amounts at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Point of Sale (POS) Operations: Operate the cash register or POS system to ring up purchases, scan or manually enter product codes, and calculate totals. Ensure accuracy in pricing, discounts, and promotions.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering their inquiries, and assisting with their purchase decisions. Address customer complaints or concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Product Knowledge: Maintain knowledge of products or services offered by the organization to effectively answer customer questions, suggest additional items, or provide information about promotions.
  • Cash Balancing and Reporting: Reconcile cash register or POS transactions at the end of each shift and complete necessary reports or paperwork. Ensure accuracy and prepare deposits for bank submission.
  • Cashier Station Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the cashier station, including the cash register, counter, and surrounding area. Restock necessary supplies such as bags, receipt paper, or change.
  • Compliance: Adhere to company policies, procedures, and guidelines related to cash handling, customer service, and security. Stay informed about relevant regulations and maintain compliance with legal requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other cashiers, finance associates, and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and provide support during peak periods or staffing shortages.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to enhance cashiering processes, customer experiences, and operational efficiency. Provide feedback and suggestions to management for improvements in systems or procedures.

Office Assistant duties

  • Delivery and Distribution: Collect and deliver mail, packages, documents, or other materials within the office premises or to external locations as instructed. Ensure timely and accurate delivery to the intended recipients.
  • Mail Sorting and Preparation: Sort incoming mail, packages, or interoffice correspondence for distribution to the appropriate departments or individuals. Prepare outgoing mail, packages, or shipments by packaging them securely and applying proper postage or shipping labels.
  • Document Handling: Handle sensitive or confidential documents with care and maintain their confidentiality. Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for tracking purposes.
  • Office Supply Management: Assist with monitoring and maintaining office supplies inventory. Notify the appropriate department or individual when supplies are running low and assist with restocking as needed.
  • Messenger Services: Provide additional messenger services as required, such as banking transactions, document retrieval from other offices, or obtaining necessary signatures or approvals.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate effectively with staff members, departments, or external parties regarding delivery or pickup instructions, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and keep messenger equipment, such as delivery carts or trolleys, in good working condition. Report any equipment malfunctions or repair needs to the appropriate department.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, or any related documentation. Update tracking systems or logbooks to ensure proper documentation and tracking of messenger activities.
  • Adherence to Policies and Procedures: Follow established office policies and procedures related to mail handling, delivery protocols, security measures, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Office Assistance: Provide general assistance or support to office staff as needed, such as photocopying documents, filing paperwork, or running errands within the office.
  • Safety and Security: Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and procedures during messenger activities. Maintain security measures to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information or materials.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports or summaries of messenger activities, including delivery volumes, turnaround times, or any issues or concerns encountered during deliveries.

Job duration: One year contract with possibility of extension after probation period

Reports to: Operation & Finance Manager

Job Requirements

Educational Background and Work Experience:

  • Diploma in Accounting, A Degree in Accounting and Finance with at least 2/1 years
  • Ngo experience is Advantages.
