Job Description

Summary

Under the guidance of Chief Field Office and direct supervision and mentoring of the Nutrition Specialist in the Oromia Field Office, the Nutrition intern will contribution to the development, planning, implementation, monitoring and evidence generation for better programing of nutrition intervention in the Oromia Region. The Intern will identify gaps and propose possible solutions, apply theoretical and technical skills in researching, data analysis and interpretation to support situational analysis and program development in the region, while learning organizational rules, regulations, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the preparation of different plans, support the identification of critical program gaps and propose possible solutions
  • Analyses secondary data, produce Nutrition information for decision and advocacy
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals which address identified gaps in the emergency response and regular program
  • Support the preparation of situation analysis, technical reports, and inputs for programme preparation and documentation
  • Participate in regional emergency cluster meetings, and with close guidance of the supervisor, work closely with sector bureaus to address issues related to strategic planning
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, as well as quarterly, Bi-annually and annual nutrition sectoral reviews with the government and other counterparts and prepare minutes and reports on results for follow up action by UNICEF Oromia field office and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake field visits, and exchange information with partners and stakeholders to assess progress
  • Participate monthly review meetings with nutrition consultants, takes minutes, and share with field office nutrition programme officer.
  • Participate in emergency and regular nutrition coordination meetings with and/or in the absence of nutrition programme officer.
  • Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable programme results.
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • He /she should be enrolled at a university at the undergraduate or graduate level or be a recent graduate in Public Health, Health, Nutrition, public health, or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as MS Office.
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures and working environments.
  • Fluency in English is required.
