For every child, nutrition

Under supervision of Nutrition Specialist, The Nutrition Intern provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for Somali Region Nutrition programme and projects. The intern applies theoretical and technical skills in researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical programme information to support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Nutrition Programme within the region, while learning organizational rules, regulations and procedures.

How can you make a difference?

Support Nutrition programme planning and implementation in collaboration with UNICEF partners (Government and NGOs)

  • Participate in developing implementation plans for activities funded by UNICEF with RHB, DRMB and NGO partners.
  • Participate in implementation of funded activities and submit relevant reports (documentation of implemented activities)
  • Follow-up timely liquidation of completed activities in accordance with procedures.

Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results 

  • Follow-up with partners for timely submission of weekly and monthly programme statistics from partners.
  • Collect, compile analyze, verify, and synthesize nutrition information’s and data’s collected from health facilities as per the standard

Supplies Management

  • Follow-up with stakeholders to collect data on Woreda supplies situation and ensure that UNICEF timely distribute supplies.
  • Conduct analysis of supplies distributed in relation to number of children treated in each Woreda

Technical and operational support to programme implementation by Regional Health Bureau, DRMB and other nutrition partners.

  • Undertake field visits, and exchange information with partners and stakeholders to assess progress
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, quarterly, Bi-annually and annual nutrition sectoral reviews with the government and other counterparts
  • Participate in monthly technical working groups and takes minutes and share with Nutrition Section head.
  • Compile a register of health workers in each Woreda to track Health Workers and Health Extension Workers that have been trained on high impact interventions and identify gaps.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • He/she should be enrolled at a university at the undergraduate or graduate level or be a recent graduate in Public Health, Health, Nutrition, public health, or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications such as MS Office.
  • Good interpersonal, networking and communication skills.
  • Willingness to contribute and work as part of a team.
  • Flexible and open to learning and new experiences.
  • Respect for diversity and adaptability to other cultures and working environments.
  • Fluency in English is required.
