Report to :- Mining Manager

Job Level :- Supervisory/Managerial level

The Role

KGM is searching for a Mining Superintendent with a minimum of 5 years of experience to oversee open pit mining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production while maintaining compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in driving operational performance, workforce capability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Overseeing daily open pit mining operations to ensure achievement of production targets safely and efficiently
  • Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards by the mining teams
  • Managing and coordinating mining contractors and operational teams
  • Monitoring and optimizing drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities
  • Driving production planning execution in alignment with short- and medium-term mine plans
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs
  • Ensuring effective utilization of equipment and resources
  • Developing and mentoring supervisors and operational teams to build capability and performance
  • Collaborating with technical services, maintenance, and other departments to ensure integrated operations
  • Reporting on production performance, safety metrics, and operational challenges.
About You

Qualifications

  • Degree or M.Sc. in Mining Engineering or related field and a Minimum of 5–10 years’ experience in open pit mining, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or superintendent role in a Cement factory , Mining Industry or Heavy industries is advantageous
  • Valid Blasting Certificate for open pit mining
  • Be in possession of a driver’s license.

Required Skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of open pit mining methods, equipment, and production processes
  • Proven leadership and team management experience in a mining environment
  • Sound knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
  • Experience working in remote or site-based operations
  • Ability to respond quickly to business needs, agile, flexible, continuous learning, innovation and proven ability to experiment on creative business solutions.
  • Ability to be inclusive, eagerness for multiple skills, embracing multiple cultures, accepting different approaches and be human-centric and empathetic.
