Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

Responsibilities

  • Taking a lead role in case management of vulnerable children, youth and women affected by the conflict in the target communities
  • Liaising with local government stakeholders (Women and children Affairs, Social Affairs, Health sector, faith organizations etc) and other stakeholders regarding implementing the psychosocial support measure to ensure complementarity and flexible, efficient service delivery to other emergency response plans.
  • Contributing to the strategic development of child protection and GBV prevention to address the psychosocial support measures beyond the emergency period
  • Applying evidence based knowledge and understanding of the mental health systems, community health and service needs, service delivery, referral pathways in providing holistic therapeutic services
  • Representing World Vision as required in relevant meetings, cluster meetings, network, promotion, and education and advocacy activities

Requirements

  • Bacherlor Degree /Masters degree in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, social work, psychology, etc.
  • A minimum of five years experience for BA and 2 years for MA in child protection, MHPSS , Couseling , program/project development and management in emergency context is required.
  • Direct case management and experience working with children, women and adolescents is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience on Gender Based Violence programming including prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) an asset .
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing psycho-social training programs and Psychological first aid service delivery mechanisms
  • Extensive training in the fields of CP/GBV, psycho-social wellbeing, case management and application of international technical guidelines and standards in Child Protection and GBV Knowledge and experience in application of international technical guidelines and standards in Inter Agency for Mental Health and Psycho-social services .
  • Masters degree in social work, psychology, counseling psychology, clinical psychology, social work, Knowledge and experience in application of international technical guidelines and standards in Inter Agency for Mental Health and Psycho-social services .
