Job Description


Kegna Beverages S.C. is a beverages Manufacturing Industry established on April 1, 2017. The beverages green field project is located in Oromia Regional State in West Shewa Zone on the outskirt of Ginchi town while the project office is located at Elilly International Hotel new building 10th floor Kazanchis, Finfinnee, Ethiopia. The company will engage in producing quality alcoholic & non- alcoholic beer brands in the first phase while the 2nd phase expansion plan is to produce carbonated water, Juices and other portfolios.

Job Summary

The packaging manager is responsible to supervise packaging team leader and ensuring a brewery’s products are packed correctly and made ready for distribution. He/She must also supervise and manage any team of staff who involve in various packaging and warehousing processes, including bottling, canning, boxing, kegging and palletizing

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing the packaging department and insuring On Time in Full delivery of the communicated production plan.
  • Ensure that the high standards of the brewery are maintained and that the packaged products are of high-quality. plan a production schedule for the packaging processing department to ensure ON Time In Full delivery of the production plan manage human and material resources to meet the budget
    ensure proper preventive and corrective maintenance task are done on time with cooperation with technique department implement food safety procedures
    work out and implement standard operating procedures for packaging operations
    ensure that standard operating procedures are adhered to ensure implementation and adherence to health and safety procedures implement and enforce quality control system to meet quality KPIs
  • Ensure that root cause analyses of production and quality defects are carried out and corrective action are taken to prevent the reoccurrence of the detects
    determine and implement improvements to the packaging process if needed
    prepare packaging reports monitor and review the performance of staff and organize necessary interventions for improvement set packaging budgets manage packaging budgets ensure efficient collaboration and co-ordination between relevant departments including production, maintenance, planning, marketing and warehouses
  • Lead and motivate the packaging team
  • Drive improvement in all aspects of the packaging process
  • Maintain a safe environment for staff
  • Help the brewery meet its regulatory obligations
  • Help packaging team leader to create a production schedule for packaging
  • Monitor packaging and warehouse operations
  • Oversee the packaging process and ensure it runs smoothly
  • Ensure quality control processes are completed
  • Manage raw materials and liaise with suppliers
  • Maintain the packaging production line
  • Look for ways to improve the brewery’s production line
  • Any and all such reasonable additional tasks that the company may assign

Position: Office of Packaging Department

Reports to: The Office of the Brewery Manager

Requirements

Academic requirement: MA/MSC/ BSC/BA in Engineering or related fields

Work experience: 8/10years of experience

Additional Competencies:

  • A certification in packaging or food production
  • Strong people management and leadership skills
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Good attention to detail
  • A strong work ethic and hands-on approach
  • A management qualification or the equivalent experience in brewery industry
  • A significant amount of experience managing a high-speed packaging line
  • A demonstrated ability to drive improvement and innovation at a brewery
  • Proven ability to use best practice manufacturing techniques to improve a brewery
