Ethiopian-German Energy Cooperation

As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development policy objectives. GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.

GIZ is implementing various energy projects in Ethiopia with the aim towards strengthening the energy sector transformation in cooperation with private and public sector partners, collaborating support a sustainable supply of energy services. This is intended to contribute to Ethiopia’s national strategies (National Electrification Plan, Growth & Transformation Plan, Climate Resilient Green Economy).

The energy projects under the Energy Programme Ethiopia (EPE) include: Energising Development (EnDev); Energy Solutions for Displacement Settings (ESDS), Green Peoples Energy (GBE) and the Ethiopian-German Energy Cooperation. GIZ Energy Programme Ethiopia works in close cooperation with the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy as its main political partner. GIZ Energy Programme in Ethiopia are responsible for the implementation of the projects.

On 19 November 2019, in the context of the G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) summit, a declaration of intent was signed between the Ethiopian and the German governments for the establishment of Ethiopian-German Energy Cooperation. One of the Cooperation’s objectives will be to foster innovative business solutions for off-grid electricity supply in rural Ethiopia.

Contract duration:   

6 months

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • The Intern will provide support for the Ethiopian-German Energy Cooperation in the day-to-day activities;
  • Assist in organizing resource centre documentation
  • Assist file management and process different services requests
  • Assist in the development of standard information materials production
  • Assist in ensuring briefing materials and factsheets are prepared in a timely manner
  • Assist event, workshop and exhibition preparation and organisation and decatenations
  • Assist the updating of the existing filing system of project’s publications, booklets, audios and videos for easy retrieval
  • Media and communication related data collection and processing
  • Communication materials service output follow up and ensue the collection of the materials
  • Support documentation of communication work of the including physical and virtual meetings
  • Support event organization and documentation
  • Draft event preparation, event reports notes and related information
  • Carry out other duties that may arise during the contract period    

Job Requirements

 Qualifications

  •  Minimum qualification requirements are University degree in Information Management/systems, Business Administration, Marketing, International relation, international language, communication or other related field from accredited academic institution.
  • The candidate is preferred to be recently graduated (no longer that two years)
  • Ability in desk research, information gathering and prepare background analysis and present concisely
  • Fluency in English, strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge in digital technologies, Microsoft applications (MS Word, Excel, Power Point) and knowledge of office 365 and virtual meeting technologies is advantages
  • Ability to work remotely
