The Opportunity

Abt Associates manages the USAID-funded VectorLink project. VectorLink supports the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) and USAID to plan and implement an integrated vector control approach with the overall goal of reducing the burden of malaria. Abt has implemented indoor residual spraying (IRS) for PMI since 2011, delivering high-quality IRS programs and gathering the most comprehensive vector control entomological data in the world. Under this contract, Abt will expand entomological monitoring to guide programs focused on insecticide-treated mosquito nets, IRS, Larval Source Management (LSM) and continue to assist PMI in reducing the burden of malaria through IRS, LSM and capacity building in 23 African countries where malaria is endemic. Abt will continue to support PMI in IRS monitoring and evaluation, as well as environmental compliance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all activities of larvicide evaluation and larval source management
  • Works closely with regional, zonal, district and town/city administrations and malaria focal persons
  • Supports recruitment and training of seasonal workers
  • Supervises seasonal workers
  • Ensures timely data collection and checks data quality
  • Ensures safety and security training is provided for seasonal workers
  • Ensures that appropriate equipment, larvicides and PPE are provided to seasonal personnel
  • Supports the Larval Source Management Operation Manager in data management, analysis, and preparation of reports
  • Performs additional tasks as deemed necessary

What We Value

  • Bachler Degree in Environmental Health, applied biology, and any other relevant field
  • 4-6 Years of years of professional experience in coordination and supervision of vector control operations
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent computer and organizational skills
