Logistics Officer

Addis Ababa

The starting monthly salary for this position is $868 USD

 

About MAG

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

MAG is in the process of establishing a country office and operations in Ethiopia. Operations will be focused on the delivery of humanitarian mine action activities in priority areas.

 

About the role

The Logistics Officer will be responsible for ensuring all logistics administrative processes are completed efficiently, including maintaining and controlling equipment, maintaining logistics paperwork and record systems in compliance with Logistics Standard Operating Procedures and donor requirements. You will be required to liaise closely with suppliers to achieve the best possible terms for MAG and ensure timely completion of orders.

About You

About you

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience of procurement and logistics
  • Demonstrate an understanding of NGOs and show a commitment to humanitarian work
  • Be self-organized, have strong attention to detail, be a team player, and able to work under limited supervision
  • Have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Have previous administrative experience and possess good literacy, numeracy and computer skills
  • Fluency in English and Amharic languages is essential
  • Supervisory skills and demonstrated ability to motivate and manage a small team would be an advantage.
