Job Description


World Vision Ethiopia began its first intervention in Ethiopia in 1971 with relief and opened the Ethiopia office in 1975. Relief, rehabilitation and small community development projects dominated the decade that followed. During the 1984/85 drought, World Vision Ethiopia participated in a massive relief operation that saved the lives of millions of people.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and participate on proper planning, implementation and monitoring of requested commodities for all projects.
  • Oversee the upcoming shipping arrangement and port operation activities relating to the sourcing and logistics cycle, in compliance with World Vision established standards and best practices, donor requirements and local laws.
  • Participate and monitor the procurement process implemented with a close follow up of the organizational policy.
  • Engage in regular correspondences within and outside WVE offices for timely shipment and transportation of food commodities to the respective APs. Perform control activities; analyze commodity management service requests, systems and processes, and advice on compliance matters and improvements needed to mitigate risk.
  • Coordinate and follow the transporters Contract and relationship Management.
  • Tracking of food commodities to ensure proper commodity accounting by checking quantities dispatched Vs received at final destination.
  • Ensure partners received the weekly, monthly & quarterly transferred commodity report timely for reconciliation purpose.
  • Check all the documents thoroughly before submitting for approval and ensure all payments requests are submitted on time for transport fees.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification.

  • BA/B.Sc. Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration Management and related fields. Master’s degree is an advantage.

Required Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in logistics/commodity/warehouse management. And Procurement, with regards to the designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development, emergency and advocacy projects and at least 2 years’ experience in managing complex grants and programs/projects with significant experience in overseeing large multi-year program.
  • NGO experience is preferred.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Exposure to food aid programs in the country
  • Experience in managing WFP/USAID funded food resources, Commodity management skills and trainings, logistics and financial management.
  • Other team management exposure and basic computer knowledge (word, Excel, lotus note, outlook).
  • NGO experience and excellent understanding of generally accepted commodity accounting and other NGO experience
  • Ability to work in high tension and high security risk situations.
  • Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment.
